but I dont have enough friends
This needs to be longer. Please.
@A pet named Steve, this isnt the first time you've said this is it?
I'm so sorry...
@ThePandaPool , yes ;)
Cause I said the same thing about JoJo's season 3.
@A pet named Steve, again, you aren’t sacrificing enough blood from the living, you want help pay the toll
@A pet named Steve, thank you for putting a good spin on that. Makes me feel better about the origional comment.
@ThePandaPool , there's a special place down here for people like you
@satan of the north, right by your side because I'm cool and you want to hang out?
@A pet named Steve, you sound just like your mother
@A pet named Steve,
You will never arrive at the truth that’s going to happen
So I'm building my first campaign for D&D and one of the party members just informed me that he wants to model his character off of dio, and I feel really bad for the rest of the party...
@ThePandaPool , but then again, it's because another party member is basing their character off of The Tick, so this campaign may die before it's ever born...
@ThePandaPool , so a super invulnerable muscle head
@Runnin with scissors, the personality is based off them, and I tend to help them min max their stats a bit, but they are still confined to the limits of character creation. No OP characters allowed.
@ThePandaPool , I have a strict, no shonin (sp?) anime character policy. You cannot make any character based off one of them because they simply will never be powerful enough for the player, or fair to the rest of the players/DM.
I usually give some suggestions or ask if maybe there are other shows/movies/books with a character they’d like to explore or perhaps (if you’re personally close enough to the player) if maybe there’s a personal struggle they’d like to explore/escape/overcome in their everyday life (anxiety, anger issues, lack of confidence, etc.) they might want to try in the form of a character
Granted, I run a very rp heavy, rule of cool combat, and sandboxy type game that focuses on character stories instead of pre-planned plot arcs
@Sven and Otar, so its basically the drive and arrogance that hes gonna use. Which will be tough when he will actually face his betters, but the guy thats playing him is very skilled and a great DM himself, so I trust him.
I am going to try my absolute best to find a balance between sandbox, character arcs, and main plot. The main plot is really only finding out who is really in charge of the world and what kind of people they really are. The players are gonna decide if they even want to do something about them. All this, and it's my first time as a DM...
@ThePandaPool , well it’s good he’s a DM himself and so you ought to be able to rely on him for help when you need it.
I am currently a very improv heavy DM with minimal planning outside of the next major plot point in each character’s arc, but I do recommend a railroad-lite style for your first few sessions. Plan out in fair detail what you expect the players to do, and a few alternate routes to get there.
Also, pro tip: Remember you are the gatekeeper of information, so don’t feel like you have to give it every time they ask. Have avenues for them to acquire it, but don’t always give it to them right away. Not every bandit knows the grander plan of their gang leader, not every soldier the grand strategy, that sort of thing
@Sven and Otar, unfortunately the "opening scene" is kinda railroaded to set the mood and environment, but everything is open after that. And as far as your pro tip, I've been on the other side enough times that lots of avenues end with a brick wall. Lol.
@ThePandaPool , it’s totally fine to railroad heavy the first session, especially if you make it an action packed roller coaster ride.
My first session I had the players start off as prisoners on a ship heading to a prison colony and dangled a means of escape and sort of railroaded them into a mutiny to take over the ship and guided them to meeting their first major quest-giving npc. It was incredibly railroady behind the scenes, but none of them even realized it with how much fun and high action everyone was having
@Sven and Otar, I'm throwing them into an arena of sorts. I really really like your idea though.
Why can't I see it in reverse??
@Dinkelberg, what did they do to the reverse function?!?! This is what it’s for!
@Dinkelberg, looks like it only works on gifs and not videos
JoJo 🎶 Golden Wind 🎶
Not as good in reverse.
