Its gonna be the best let's play in the history of let's play. Let's make let's play great again
So hes a billionaire with tons of connections. Why not just create your own platform? At least he knows 10s of millions of Americans will definitely use it instead of other platforms and make money at the same time
@Twatasaurusrex, he might. But google is using theyre vastly superior ammount of recources to bring down any social media companies that could support free speech.
@Doctor Walrus, just a rumor.
@Doctor Walrus, oh sorry forgot what this comment was about. Let me clarify the idea that trump might start a counter social media empire is a rumor. Googles pressure of server provider to crush parlor is not. Since the providers told parler exactly why they would not provide service to them.
Though these guys got it wrong donald trump had just joined parler when they removed them from their services more links to follow.
@Doctor Walrus, computerworld.com/article/2820830/google-forms-political-pressure-group.html
Google has so much influence and power in the industry that just not playing ball with them means your business will go under period.
Nah he's banned from YouTube too lmao
@Mhael, civil liberties and constitutional rights being ignored by massive multi-million corporations. Lmao XD it's feels great being stepped on, right ;P
@Mhael, right. Because nothing bad can ever come from big tech companies silencing people. Not like we’ve seen where that leads to in movies and stories
@That one lurker, your constitutional rights protect you from the government, not big tech
@SupremeCommenter, so government can't take away my rights. But if they have big tech do it it's all good.
It's sounding like you're defending the lucrative merger between corporation and State to silence political opposition.
Is that a fair assessment? It's not against our constitution for goverment to have big tech do their dirty work for them?
@SupremeCommenter, which is considered a public platform. But hey what could possibly go wrong allowing companies that control 90% of human communication to censor political entities.
@SupremeCommenter, oh right you dont care because theyre currently censoring the bad orange man and your political opponents that you cant beat in a straight up confrontation of ideas.
@That one lurker, All this man has said is the objective truth, and you are essentially forcing words into his mouth. You and CocoasBro are literally attacking him for an opinion you have no reason to believe he holds.
For clarification I am referring to SupremeCommenter's comment.
@HalfMt, I understand what he's saying is true. Understand what I said was not hyperbole. But I shouldn't had thrust an opinion on him, even if he used fascists defense against freedom of speech. I find the use of it antithetical to American values. Is that at least understandable?
@That one lurker, I completely agree with you. Just think you jumped the gun.
@That one lurker, their stuff their rules. It’s not government owned, so you can still make your own app and have your voice heard
@CocoasBro, The only companies that really have the power to censor are internet service providers, but there are laws in place to prevent that, so long as Ajit Pai doesn't try to change them. You could argue that DNS providers, domain providers, or if your insane, individual websites have the power to censor, but each argument is less compelling than the first. If you wish to express an opinion on the internet, it is your responsibility to find the best way to do so, and not cry censorship because the most popular privately owned websites won't let you use their servers to spread your message.
@That one lurker, He broke the terms of service they have every right to ban him the same way they would ban anyone else I know nobody reads those terms and conditions but they do matter
@eleven, the issue here is the double standard, and 230.
Trump broke t&c's and got ban. Legal.
Other people posting hang mike pence on Twitter left up for long times, trending. If and when twitter got around to cleaning it up, there are no consequences.
Because of section 230, Twitter isn't responsible for that content legally, even though it might have lead to violence.
So big tech is in a position to do no wrong.... they can't be sued for missteps in moderation and they are big enough to black list people and providers from other platforms....
This isn't a red vs blue thing. It's a discussion on who's responsible for the content online. (Both hosting and the consequences of what's on it)
@Tom0126, if the BLM riots got people ban this wouldn't even be an argument.
Double standards piss people off more then regular standards.
And while I'm here, it's fine to thing that violence will bring attention to your cause.... it really is...
But it's also OK to hold people accountable and put people in prison for breaking laws. You might get the change you wanted for others, but those doing damage must pay society.
If you disagree, then yes, I suppose violence is wrong and they should still be jailed 🙂
@SupremeCommenter, Please, PLEASE reconcile your "only protect you from the government" statement with the 13th Amendment for me. Was it meant to ensure the continued freedom of slaves from just the government, or also from private holdings? If amendments don't protect anyone from big tech, does Facebook still have the right to run a plantation in opposition to the 13th Amendment?
@eleven, yes but given how big twitter is and it's become one of, if not THE public discourse platform for people not only in the country, but most of the world. Surely that's grounds to bring in government regulation and make it public domain so freedom of speech can be enforced, and to silence somebody you would need to go through elected officials and not just invisible people who pick and choose whom they enforce there rules on based on personal leaning. Twitter simply has too much power over information. Itd be the same deal if there was only one big newspaper company in the whole country in a way.
@Skeletorr, how dare you remind these people of Nazis, Marxists, Communists, Socialists, the CCP, Venezuelan governance, Cuban governance, Stalinism, North Korea in general? /s
Aw cmon this is ridiculous. Clearly its fake...
Donald is more orange than that
Trump's a fúcking idiot and he deserved being effectively muzzled and locked in a cage relative to the world. But let's not let that be a precedent, it's fine in this one and only case
@GayShjtSniper, imagine being pro-censorship by massive multi national corporations. Use your brain for once holy sh!t.
@GayShjtSniper, yeah, let's let them muzzle the most powerful person in the world because we don't agree with him. That won't set a precendent right?? Right guys? Oh look, they're now banning anybody they don't like.......moron
@CocoasBro, all I'm saying is if even Pornhub doesn't want you around, you've done something seriously fúcked because they really don't give a shjt about much
Now he can FINALLY build that wall!
Gotta reach out somehow
