It kinda works
Apex did right what pubg and call of duty messed up. Game is an instant classic
@Richard Cypher, what did pubg mess up?
@salty joe, The fun
@A Flying Panda, pubg is my favorite game at the moment ive had it since it came out on console. From what ive seen the only changes theyve made were adding maps and guns.how did they ruin the fun?
@salty joe, the F2P aspect is a big part. Both games have a variety of bugs but in a BR game, i don’t want to clip a tree when driving a car and have the entire vehicle blow up. There are swaths of “nothing time” in pubg that makes the casual player bored and possibly frustrated. I think this could be a super interesting discussion because a lot of these BR games are similar and I am interested in why Pubg failed and Apex thrived.
@SunnySide, PUBG wasn’t finished. It clearly did not have enough testing and bug fixing before it released and wasn’t free to play. Not to mention downtime being boring and not having a unique theme to it like fortnite (building) or Apex (unique character abilities)
@SunnySide, oh boy i have hours of captures failing miserably driving vehicles, they definitly could have done more work before releasing the first consol version. and i can 100% see how "nothing time" makes the game boring to some. ive always leaned towards the games that are more realistic. for example i never went back to COD after playing BF2, i continued on with BF. For me the nothing time adds suspence and paranoia which makes the game more exciting because youre waiting or looking for an opportunity to engage someone for the one chance you get to because you usually live or die in that moment. This is also the first ive heard of Apex and im definitly gonna try it out when i get the chance
@Dweeebus, but the entire theme of PUBG was battle royal... The others are just pubg with extra steps
@salty joe, pubg is not the original br, so their best claim is that its the most realistic. Unfortunately they rushed release and delivered a broken, but playable game.
Apex is killing it because its easier and runs way better. There are less people, 60 instead of 100, and the combat feels great. Another big aspect is the 3v3, triple kills are a lot easier to get than quads. The ability to res your killed team is great too. Sucks dying early then watching your friends for 20min.
@Richard Cypher, thankyou. It actually feels like a finished game with little that's clunky. They did a good job and it's the BR most of us have been waiting for. I struggle to call fortnite a BR at this point, it was fun for a while, but it's at the point where if you aren't at an esports level of build fighting, where you only get 3 frames mid build to shoot the other person you are just going to die repeatedly. There isn't a whole lot of balance to the game, don't give me wrong, a BR shouldnt because that's the aspect of it, but it still needs To have some Degree. Apex has done what all the others have failed to do. Black ops 4's blackout almost did, but just wasn't really there, it was basically only skill but everything about it was just not great and not well done. Apex has that perfect mix of fun and skill.
@TheHippie52, oh boy yes. One of the best parts is running into a building full of enemies while opening a wraith portal. Grabbing your dead teammates banner. Hopping into the portal you just made. Throwing down thermite grenades. Then waiting for them to come through the portal behind you for THE ULTIMATE MAYHEM MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
@Richard Cypher, I frickin love apex legends but I don't think I can say apex legends is completed. It's missing a lot of things and I heckin can't wait for the stuff they're gonna add to it.
I hate battle royal games.
Apex is the exception....
I really really like it in fact.
What about the original Culling?
@A Math Dealer, culling was fun. Didn’t get to play a ton, but I had some good rounds with a buddy
