@Petersquatch, according to a significant portion of the US population, it is a highly desirable place to live. If NY was like rural Missouri/Mississippi/Alabama, then apparently people wouldn't really want to live there.

@mas2de, very true. Most of New York is gorgeous. Its just too bad the big cities make it harder on the rest of the state, with higher taxes and such.
