Such a tragedy
This story was super fücked up because not only was it a work place but pretty sure it was an employer, if you guys have seen “Ninchio, Myriad of phantom Colors, Beyond the Boundary, Love Chinubyo and other delusions 1-2, K-On, A Silent Voice, they have a donation site, I’m just saying if you love what the people created spread some love back and donate, everything help, it doesn’t have to be a lot, and if you don’t wanna donate you can buy their anime and the money goes straight to helping the families.
Edit more info has been given by people and it seems it was an angry artist per say
@DrSin, while this would be a tragedy anywhere I think it's even more tragic that this happened in Japan, a country known for having low crime rates, and was committed by a Japanese man. That and this occurred at an anime studio that according to the latest reports all of their equipment and data was completely destroyed. But it is encouraging to see all the condolences and support people have been offering in the wake of this attack
@DrSin, hate to make it worst but they said the guy was NOT or ever was a former employee there. Just some psycho that picked a building to burn and cause harm.
@megamanx181x, actually, he claimed that they plagiarized his work
@ NotDesu, really now? I want to see his wild allegations cause I bet he never submitted anything to them
@DrSin, you can also buy their digital art from their website to help as well
@ NotDesu, more and more is happening and I like it, I only read the first initial day of when it happened and saw the donation site, if more information is available I’m glad you guys are checking up on it, honestly I love art, what ever form it comes in, and I loved their anime’s from the start so this makes me sad cuz they are hard working making fans happy
@megamanx181x, so as someone living in japan, Kyoto animation studio has a practice for a long time of submission contests, which they have been known to use for ideas. This guy submitted something to a contest, won, and was upset they wanted to use his work even though it was very common and many times they’ve done this before and been open about it. What makes it much more shocking and horrific is KyoAni is one of the only studios of anime in japan that ISNT extremely exploitative of their artists, and this has done MASSIVE damage to them. I hope this sheds some light on it.
@Sexy Homunculus, there's a small bit of good news that they managed to recover the data on their servers without damage. It's not much light but it's something
@Sexy Homunculus, actually good news they were able to recover most of not all of their data. The only good news to come out of this horrible tragedy.
@LoZ Fanatic, this is going to be an interesting trial. You currently live there?
@megamanx181x, I’ve been living here for the past month a research project I’ve been doing with my school... one of my friends was already doing his research project on that exact studio before this event even happened, we were in Akihabara at the time. I’m here for roughly 2 more weeks before I return back to the US, but this has been great here, aside from the tragedy.
Just an FYI that is about half of the entire staff as they had 70 employees working there.
@Megahut, I think the death toll is now at 35 since a couple more people died at the hospital
@Sexy Homunculus, I was going to mention that I saw it up to 34 or 35 but couldn’t remember which it was.
They are banning lighters, right?
But sir it's not raining.
Worst mass killing in 18 years? Pretty sure the bombing of Nagasaki was more than 18 years ago
*looks over at usa with that being the bi-yearly average*
@PunnyBaker, more like weekly
