But other stuff is in the way
So, let's draw a debate! What'd y'all think about the Gillette commercial?! I thought it had the right message but was EXTEMELY poorly done. Watch a commercial called, what is a man. For a watch.
@A Confused Banana , Same reaction. They took every issue concerning toxic masculinity and shoved it into the commercial without saying anything important or relevant, then stole some first semester film student's project ideas as a script. The whole thing's a shjt show that is both stupid in its own right and trivializing to what are actual issues, and all in the name of selling some cheap ass razors.
TL;DR It's a Lifetime Original Movie, saying "this thing that everyone already agrees is bad is still bad now suck our c0cks for saying so" in the most hilariously incompetent way possible.
@A Confused Banana , I thought it was dumb, most “toxic” masculinity is regular and healthy behaviour
@A Confused Banana , “Why just shave your beard, when you can shave off all masculinity with it” -Gillette. “I don’t care what your political opinion is, you’re a shaving razor. Leave me alone” -Me. That’s about how it went.
@A Confused Banana , Any behavior or attitude could be toxic if taken to the extreme. That doesn’t mean it’s the behavior or attitude itself that’s toxic.
Desire and love taken to extreme can become jealousy and obsession.
Is pride toxic because it can become vanity and narcicism?
Is courage toxic because it can lead to recklessness?
Is femininity toxic because some women psychologically and emotionally manipulate and abuse men?
I think no. I think we invented new words to describe those extremes because we recognize the importance of preserving the good while calling out the bad.
Aggression in men is great when fighting off a wild animal, a home intruder, or defending someone he loves. It’s bad when it becomes abusive to innocent people. That doesn’t mean we should throw away aggression forever.
Calling masculinity toxic feels like a targeted attempt to further destroy what it means to be a man and render it impotent and emasculated. Men are great, stop treating men like monsters
@A Confused Banana , And this ad is so obviously the company trying to manipulate idiots into supporting them by trying to get social brownie points.
Hey fellow kids, we sure do hate that toxic masculinity huh? Would you care for a razor before 3rd period starts?
It’s painfully transparent and they have lost my support forever.
This meme itself points out such a weird part of the commercial.
Asking out women is . . . Bad? Wrong? No more dating I guess.
@TheLaaaaaaaaazyEye, *stands and salutes* well said!
Some of us are born broken. Nothing we can do about it. Just move forward.
Don't forget manga.
Those are pretty normal things these days.
