He had good intentions with communism but ultimately the government always holds to much power. You need a perfect civilization to effectively run a communism and at that point any government would work rendering it pointless. The advantage with democracy and Republics is that they anticipate corruption and create checks and balances.

@Dephenistrator, "he had good intentions" No he did not. The Communist Manifesto was a call to violent and bloody revolution. He didn't understand economics, he was simply trying to (and was successful at) motivating the people into slaughtering each other. Any book that starts by saying kill your neighbor probably isn't good for society But I agree with everything else you said 😄

@Dephenistrator, I think you are confusing governing ad economic models. The two aren't mutually exclusive. As it sits currently, the U.S. is a democratic mostly capitalistic country with minor socialist programs (fire department, police, and the military are nation wide socialist programs). I'm not saying any of the following are good/bad, but hypothetically you could have a capitalistic dictatorship, a socialist monarchy, and a cmumist democracy. People have every right to be resentful to communism after the way it was implemented in Russia and China; however, capitalism has also caused both suffering and death as well. Democracy all the way, but a good mix of economic models is needed for a sustainable country. I have 0 interest in a privately funded police force and I don't know what I'd do if I got a bill from the fire department if my house burnt down.
