This is fake as hell
@But fvck it, is it? I want to believe it but I don’t know who to trust
@But fvck it, Its tumblr so yeah, probably. Especially considering the 9.
Probably same for the next pic too.
@diamondbolt7, ١٢٣٤٥٦٧٨٩٠ these are the current Arabic numbers. Doesn't make much sense for someone to change this much in the same language.
@But fvck it, actually in first grade I remember learning something called ‘touch points’ on the numbers and it was really close to this. I doubt if it’s even a thing anymore
@diamondbolt7, yep. I showed it to my coworker who speaks the language fluently.
Actual the numerical system is based on one devised by the Hindus... the knowledge was stolen/ appropriated during the expansive campaign of an Arabic nation.
@Sambob, didn’t know Watson used funny pics
That's just adding extra stuff to make it have the right number of angles like the 7 and 9.
I'm calling bull on this one
These are touch points.. I used them all the time when I was learning to add.. I still use them sometimes because I'm a visual learner/need to touch and feel things to learn well and it always made sense to me. None of my math teacher knew what tf I was doing when I would go up to the front of the class to do a math problem and I was touching the numbers. Poor numbers had to go to therapy after that.
@Murderin Mike, hey just a FYI there's really no such thing as being any one "learner" or things like multiple intelligences...
@Can yew knot, guess I just suck at math then lol, but thank you for letting me know. Could you elaborate as to why you say this?
@Murderin Mike, this as well as related articles about the matter
@Murderin Mike, https://www.theguardian.com/education/2017/mar/13/teachers-neuromyth-learning-styles-scientists-neuroscience-education
@Can yew knot, I will read up on it later.
@Murderin Mike, fair enough- I usually agreed with the theory as well but it apparently seems most scientific literature (wayy to busy to personally read all hundreds of articles myself) doesn't quite support it nor disprove it entirely.
@Can yew knot, the VARK model has always made sense to me but it is always good to look at different ideas. Maybe it is incorrect, if so then that's awesome because that is one step closer to figuring out how the human brain works.
Ah ha! I knew I was right when I put a dash through my 7's!
Interesting, but if I remember correctly, the original numbers looked different, and later evolved to what we use today.
Little know fact Bill Murray was actually the inspiration for Jesus Christ in the Bible.
*Everyone on Tumblr* Wow 😳 what an age of knowledge we live in! I'll NEVER NOT REBLOG THIS!!!
I like that 9. That's a nice 9
7? Oh...because lines...
I have a degree in linguistics and can tell you this is bs
*squints intensely at the 9’s curly-cue
My teachers actually taught me how to count numbers by counting these dots on the angles! (This was in puerto rico btw)
There's more angles. They're only counting acute angles!
Actually technically they all have straight angles, except for 0
My jaw is legit on the floor right about now :D
