When I was younger, I was in an overnight camp. One evening there was a sudden severe lightning storm, and it hit while we were on a walk about, and the closest shelter was on the other side of an open field. We had to run across the field. A kid was hit by lightning three yards in front of me. I was (temporarily) blinded, deafened, and I was knocked off my feet by the blast. The kid survived, but was put into a coma for a week. I'm afraid of storms now. I think it's a fairly logical fear.

@Not Actually a Corgi, witnessing a tornado is one of the items on my bucket list (although hopefully not the last item if you know what I mean). It's ironic. 1st time I was at camp (different camp - you can guess why I hated camp) a tornado struck the island across the lake during the night. The trees were devastated in the morning. 2nd time was at Universal Studios. The tornado touched down at the nearby airport. It hailed softball sized chunks of ice. 3rd time was in the West Virginia mountains at night. It was preceded by a HORIZONTAL lightning storm (it didn't hit the ground). The 2nd and third were a day apart, too. I lead an 'interesting' life.
