It's kind of funny till you realize that lion was legitimately trying to tear that child apart.
@Asriel, after that it's hilarious.
@Asriel, then you realize it literally wasn't trying to at all.
@Dr Kriegerstein, yea it was. That's what they do. Attack unsuspecting animals. That's why in videos you always see the lion, tiger, panther etc. prowling and waiting to strike. They don't attack if you looking right at them.
@RageDiesel, as you can see for 2 reasons, 1 obvious and the other not so much. The not so obvious is that it is a young lion and probably isn't too adept at hunting but showing is more playful side. You can also see for the obvious reason that it is trying more to play because it never opened its mouth but just used it's paws to try and get the child. Lots of young lions love playing and that's how they do it. Definitely would've killed the child though through pumping it to death.
@Dr Kriegerstein, nah man it waited until he turned around and run full speed. It was trying to kill him.
@Duncan5769, please do tell me your knowledge of lions, it'd be interesting to know how it's intentions were to kill.
@Dr Kriegerstein, Well I know lions like to hunt meat. Normally the female ones who then feed it to the male's but male's hunt sometimes too. They also like to cut off their pray, by having one lion chase it towards a trap.Obviously in a zoo they can't use the same strategies, but the fact it tried to sneak up on the kid shows he did try
@Asriel, careful now or you'll bring the gorilla lover out of these people again.
@Duncan5769, you should also know then that lions learn how to hunt through play with their siblings. For this lion still being an adolescent it would still want to play more. Yes lions eat meat but they don't just think to kill for meat all day every day. But sneaking on the child does not prove it tried to kill and eat the kid. I'm pretty sure for a lion to eat it would have to open its mouth.
@Dr Kriegerstein, yes they play with their siblings not random other meat. And the lion is hardly a cub, it's not fully grown I'll admit but and just cause its mouth wasn't open doest mean anything, it went to swipe him down first
@Duncan5769, it's great to see your poor knowledge of what seems to be going on. If you don't have siblings because you're in captivity I bet you would be pretty bored. And at that age it would still feel the need to play. And with the height of that kid there would be no need to swipe. Also lions don't swipe to trip their prey.
@Dr Kriegerstein, have someone take a video of you jumping into the lion cage and then come back and tell us it was trying to play with you
@Dr Kriegerstein, also lions do trap their prey with their claws. The karambit is a combat knife that is designed based on a tiger's claw for the same purpose.
@MrJojo, I would love to maybe go in there if I was a lot closer to the size of a lion. Unfortunately I'm a lot smaller so when it plays it would still severely hurt by breaking a few bones in my body. And did you know that a tiger and a lion are very different types of cats? Tigers do trip there pretty because of their claws and the dense jungles they live in. Lions however ambush and jump on their prey until the prey collapses.
@Dr Kriegerstein, Dude you don't know jack. Lions don't play with humans they kill them, lion cubs play but that thing has its mare already. Its a killing machine
@Duncan5769, oh yes, it's very clear to me of your superiority of knowledge about lions. It's good to know that you only see the black and white picture with these creatures.
@Dr Kriegerstein, actually that's a zebra. I see mostly brown and yellow
@Asriel, Natural selection has been thwarted yet again.
@Duncan5769, oh you're good at this, before someone thought it was orange and black.
@Dr Kriegerstein, "Lions however ambush and jump on their prey until the prey collapses." You just countered and contradicted your original argument and supported @RageDiesel 's argument earlier.
@Duncan5769, you deserve an award for that comeback I actually laughed out loud
@The Sexy Box Ghost, yes excellent comeback except I don't see how I contradict myself. I can see the part where I supported him, but it supports me as well...
@Dr Kriegerstein, Can you cite your sources?
@xSparkySharky, of course I can, Africa is where I learned it.
@Dr Kriegerstein, Any more pointless ass arguments anybody else wants to start up?
@GreenF7, sure thing bud, always got at least 5 ready. Any pointless comments you wanna add to this one?
@Dr Kriegerstein, There are only 2 genders
@GreenF7, not bad. You wanna hear another good one?
@Dr Kriegerstein, going by your logic does that mean when a pet anaconda constricts a small child to death it was just trying to give them a hug?
@Wendigo, of course not, anaconda doesn't feel love and therefore cannot hug.
@Duncan5769, tsavo man eaters, prime example.
@Dr Kriegerstein, why not?
@Wendigo, because of the lack of space for compassion in their bodies. They are hate filed creatures with nothing but hate.
@Dr Kriegerstein, If that's the case then how is a lion any different, besides caring for young, and practicing on siblings. Both lions and snakes kill other organisms to survive and when it comes down to their core, I don't see much compassion or love on either part
@Wendigo, I thought you would be able to see the sarcasm in my comments but I guess not. One thing you should know about snakes though is that the mothers don't care for their young. Once the eggs are hatched the babies are just small versions of the parents. Comparing snakes and lions is like apples to carrots. Very different behavioral patterns, however you don't appear to know much about at least one of the creatures so you justify yourself with tunnel vision thoughts.
@Dr Kriegerstein, I was a pre-vet major so I've taken a few classes on animals, including an animal behavior class. If you knew what you were talking about you would know that even if a young lion is hunting it will go after small prey to start off, ironically a small human would make a perfect test hunt. If a lion wanted to play with a sibling why would it wait and attack the sibling from behind? I'm afraid your information on these creatures is flawed to say the least, and if you ever made an attempt to show your views with another animal behaviorist I think that they would laugh in your face of disregard you as an idiot. Animals meant to kill do not practice on other animals for fun. Unless you think playing with your food like a cat does with other creatures before killing them counts as playing, if that were the case you would be right.
@Dr Kriegerstein, and please note I said "besides" as in they are different in the following aspects.
@Wendigo, well I'll have you know that have a doctorate in anthropology so you know my knowledge about these safari animals is about the same. And using terms that are hurtful like "idiot" will not help you in your argument. Now back to the lion that apparently is only a killing machine. Play is how lions, along with other big cats, practice hunting. Some of their strength is held back and isn't intended to kill. And if you seemed to know what you were talking about you would know that young lions don't start with small prey to hunt when they are young. When they are old enough to hunt, which I believe is about 2 years old but that might just be tigers, they will hunt large animals. So I could say that your info is also laughable to say the least.
@Dr Kriegerstein, you're lying and I see that now, otherwise I'm afraid you have very little knowledge on this subject and I would hope the former is true otherwise we have a large amount of people who don't deserve doctorates. Anthropology is the study of human development so in this case I'm afraid that your "doctorate" has little ground in this argument. And you obviously missed my point on what small prey. When I mean small prey I am not referring to simple things like mice. Small prey would refer to animals an inexperienced hunter would have relative success of capturing like a baby antelope. Also if you were offended while throwing around offhanded insults that's very hypocritical. You have no doctorate and you have no real information, you are merely a troll or a very uniformed person lying about their education to seem believable. Your information is clearly not fooling anyone considering the number of downvotes you have so please don't keep trying.
@Wendigo, again I shouldn't have used sarcasm for its quite hard to notice in writing. I was trying to show that your couple classes was just as good as someone who would have not taken those classes at all. I know what anthropology is which is why I had stated that. And I was not offended but was pointing out that it would not help you with an argument. And of course it would go for a baby animal to hunt, that's much easier than an adult. That's why adult lions do that too making your initial point invalid.
@Dr Kriegerstein, my initial point was intended to be the lion wanted to kill the child. Which is why I used the snake comparison, if anything the fact that you admit a lion will go for easy prey supports my statement. This argument has gone nowhere fast and I'm bored of it, you can keep your views and I can keep mine, nonetheless the entire scenario is purely speculation as neither party can ask the animal to explain its motives or actions therefore even if a conclusion is met, it may not be true. Who's to say that there wasn't a bug on the glass and the cat was trying to swat it using its body? Technically speaking, neither argument can be for sure proven by humans and therefore remains theory.
@Wendigo, then why press the argument? You choose to engage and then now you give up just like that. You are not a worthy opponent. Now you go to a solution that you see I can't win nor you. That is weak. I hope you don't keep thinking for yourself though, it will help. I had fun for this breef moment so thank you. Maybe I get a chance to have a better argument with you later.
@Dr Kriegerstein, I cease because I see that you will not change your views regardless of how much evidence can (and has) been shown to you. I simply do not wish to waste energy on someone who cannot and will not admit or realize they are very much mistaken. The fact is you failed the argument with the first comment you posted on this feed, the many downvotes should have shown you that, but yet you push on digging yourself a deeper and deeper hole. The weak will fight without a cause, I saw that you refuse to be corrected which was my cause, therefore I leave you to your vanity. I find no value to argue when there will be no solution. Have a nice day
@Wendigo, yes, those 40+ people probably know everything too. It's good we can use these votes to prove who is right. And the weak do fight workout a cause, but it's fast weaker to give up on your own. And most of your evidence seemed to be invalid after I looked into it whereas you seem to completely disregard mine that I have shown you. I do not quit when others tell me I'm wrong; I'm not like you. I will stop when real evidence is suggested to me that proves otherwise. And also, welcome back.
@Asriel, Well, his mouth didn't open so that's a good sign lol
@Dr Kriegerstein, Sorry but any points you made were outshone by your godawful grammar. It was almost physically painful at times to read that, especially from someone who claims to have a doctorate degree
@Dr Kriegerstein, you just blow in from stupid town?
@arsehole , I'll give you that one, that's pretty clever.
@Dr Kriegerstein, Is this thread still going on?
@Wendigo, "it's hard to win an argument against a smart person, it's damn near impossible to win an argument against a stupid person"
Honestly though at this point I think he's just trolling
@MrJojo, yeah that's what I figured lol
@Wendigo, I only just saw this whole thread. Holy shjt dude.
@Asriel, I might have typed a novel or two...
@Wendigo, I would buy it.
@Asriel, I'll say the same thing I said about Harambe: who the fnck cares guys? Jesus, this simple comment became so much. Don't you guys have better things to do with your lives than argue about what a fncking lion is doing in a random .gif? I come on this app to wind down and forget how stressed I am on a day-to-day basis, but seeing random strangers argue over the most pointless bullsh!t just seriously p!sses in my cheerios.
TL;DR put your d!cks away, nobody cares what the lion was trying to do, it smekd glasz an it waz funneh
*Lion "What, I only wanted to chew on him a little.."
That lion was trying to take better care of that child than the parents were!
Or just give him a big hug... With his mouth
If you look a lion in the eye, it won't attack you. That's why African fisherman used to wear hats with eye patterns on the back, it'd keep any wandering lions from charging at them.
@King Cock, from what I heard, that was for tigers, who wont attack prey that is aware of them. Though I suppose it could apply to any big cat.
Simba just wanted to tell him about the circle of life.
As an expert in animal behavior, I think it was trying to give the child a hug to mourne the loss of poor harambe.
Kitty just want murder!
Oooh so close
So very close
Better luck next time
It's funny how quick he gives up the attack, almost like he temporarily forgot the glass was there, hit it, then remembered
I came on to see if someone knew why only part of the vid was greyscale but holy cow! Lemme get my popcorn and read this ridiculous argument😒
Cool to see the stalking instinct. Waits for the kid to turn around before going for it.
I now realize that this is what house cats would do, if they were big enough.
He obviously forgot about what happened to his friend Harambe
Never turn your back...
This why humans would never survive in nature
@Deer Jesus, humans did survive in nature, we just decided we didn't like it anymore
@Build a bob, you're right haha. I just meant if everything was stripped from us today
