To be fair I don't think that bouncers were used much in early cricket. It is a gentlemen's game, if you're outside Australia.
@theprofprofessor, I'm American and sometimes we get Australian cricket matches and I'd watch that shjt over baseball any day. Heck I'd even watch Aussie rules over NFL too

Actually the first cricket helmet of a sort was used in 1930 by Pasty Hendren until it was made popular in the 70s, and the first jockstrap, while indeed made in 1874, was made for cyclists on poor cobble roads, not cricket players.
