It’s typically more complicated than that. Being unable to prove a rape happened and proving that someone intentionally lied about a rape are miles apart from an investigative perspective. It sucks knowing that someone is lying but being unable to prove it to a prosecutor standard.
@thehouseghost, but what protection does the accused have that stops his life from spiralling into destruction? Some states and countries keep accusations on a record, regardless of not guilty outcomes.
@thehouseghost, a girl I know accused an older guy of assault. I was at the same house and saw her pretty much force him into the backroom. She liked him and wanted him to do things with her. I didnt hear anything but she came out laughing after a few minutes and he looked annoyed. She told me everything that happened, which was basically nothing, then laughed about it and when questioned I had to tell the cops what she said and they still arrested the guy and he went to prison.
@thehouseghost, you seem to be the only person in this thread that understands the true complexity of this issue.
@thehouseghost, its so stupid cause false rape accusations almost ruined my life and would gone to prison if my public defender didnt point out a ton of BS that the gal did
@VirusX503, I know how it feels. Hope you’re doing alright.
@thehouseghost, this one woman plead guilty to making false accusations of sexual assault. She got a year of probation.
@Sambob, on another note you would be surprised by your file the fbi has ;).
@Sambob, there should be some laws in place saying that u can not be fired from your job or otherwise retaliated against in any aspect of your life until u r proven guilty it’s supposed to be innocent until proven guilty but unfortunately the way things work now is that everything is based in the court of public opinion and not actual courts and it’s guilty until proven innocent and even then you’re still assumed guilty it always hangs over u
@ TouchMyCatEars, wait he went to prison or jail?
@thehouseghost, there are women whose accusations have been proven false who received little or no consequences. Google “mattress girl”. There are many like her.
@thehouseghost, the problem is that it is a lose lose situation. As it stands rape claims are basically guilty till proven innocent. Idk for sure but I believe most "rape" cases are actually remorse cases
@Angry Rude Canadian, thank you and i could be better it tears you up inside but while they arent dropping it im gonna be on probation for 4 years with no conviction so no record and not guilty but still "punished" for something i never did
Wait, don’t they? Well that’s bullshít
@Fuggles, believe me, they don’t. Not pleasant, and it’s even worse if you find out they’re repeat offenders. The worse they get after three offenses is a verbal warning.
@Angry Rude Canadian, that’s ridiculous. How are perjury and slander laws in place, but nothing to punish those who intentionally falsely accuse someone of rape?
@Fuggles, I would’ve pressed charges, but I’m just a college student. I don’t have that kind of money.
@Angry Rude Canadian, and where r all of the feminists crying about equal rights when this happens cause that’s obviously unfair and a perfect example of men and women being treated differently
@sgc6610, because they’re not interested in equality they’re focused on feeling virtuous by buying into an ideology. I almost got into a fistfight with my brother over this topic and it nearly destroyed our relationship because he was coming at the problem form the point of view of “it’s so much more important to stop sexual assault than it is to worry about the insignificant portion of accusations that are false”.
The attitude infuriates me because of its hypocrisy, which I told him. The people who argue in favour of the sacrifice of men falsely or wrongfully accused of rape in order to ‘fix’ the issue of rape will change their tune right quick when the accusation is levied at them or a loved one.
We see this time and again where the same people being so quick to condemn others don’t seem to apply the same standards to themselves.
@I Are Lebo, no I understand and I agree but it’s just such bullsh t and I’m just tired of it and 1 man being falsely accused is far too many to tolerate
@sgc6610, I was against the #metoo movement from the very beginning, and have been called bigoted multiple times for it. While I am entirely on board with people being held accountable for their trespasses, regardless of their power, there’s an element of responsibility being ignored. If the people around Weinstein hadn’t looked the other way he’d have been finished twenty years ago. I have so little patience for the virtue signalling.
Also, if you go into the hotel room of a coked up celebrity and then get surprised or upset when the expectation is sex, and then don’t expect a bad ending to the scenario where you are alone in a secluded space with someone larger, stronger, and better connected than you who wants something you gave the indication of offering freely, well that’s your fault. The guy who rapes is responsible for his actions, but I see it similarly to hanging out on the Santa Monica pier after dark or wandering around gang territory at night. You’re asking for trouble.
@I Are Lebo, words have really lost their meaning considering the fact that every man is a sexist and every white person is racist now ppl think of u don’t agree with them that means you’re racist or sexist or something else nobody knows the meaning of these things anymore but the your second paragraph I believe it’s never the victims fault because personally even if a girl gave me every indication that she wanted sex as soon as she says no I’d never force her yea I’d be pissed and it’s really f cked up but I would never force a woman but at the same time I agree with u in the fact that even though it’s not their fault y would u willingly put yourself in a bad situation like that not all men r as kind as others it’s like women complaining y can’t I ever find a nice guy all guys r jerks then maybe u should start dating nice guys but no they don’t wanna change they wanna keep doing stupid things and just expect everyone else to change that’s the main problem with society today everyone
@I Are Lebo, wants the world to change for them but guess what it doesn’t work like that but some ppl will just never realize and the worst part is sometimes these idiots complain and sue so much that they actually win and now 99% of the world has to alter their lives for the whinny 1% that aren’t fit to live in the real world
@sgc6610, I think this quote sums it up nicely:
Hard times create hard people
Hard people create good times
Good times create soft people
Soft people create hard times.
The millennial generation may perhaps be the softest generation ever.
@I Are Lebo, agreed
@sgc6610, I’m actually rather worried about it. My generation (seemingly) contains the most self absorbed and entitled people alive. We’re coming of maturity, and actually impacting society. With the standard pattern of Democrat corruption and Republican manipulation of the system being broken down due to political and societal agents like Trump or AOC, I’m far more worried about far leftist ideology seizing power in the chaos then I would have been ten years ago.
At least with Democratic corruption your society only stagnates. If an authoritarian leftist regime manages to actually take power in the western world, millions will die, mark my words. We will see similar events as to those of the early 20th century repeat themselves.
@I Are Lebo, how old r u
@sgc6610, almost 31
There's a story where these girls in Pittsburgh bullied a boy because they "just don't like him" as they stated, they bullied him Alot, then eventually accused him of sexual assault which landed him on house arrest (there was no investigation on his end) they then later accused him of rape which landed him in prison, he stayed there for nine days until one of the girls admitted to lying, he was still on house arrest and had this whole thing on his record, the girls however faced no repercussions, you can easily find the story on YouTube from a YouTuber called Sinatra says
@InsaneWorm, what about the story where a guy was messing with an old video camera and the ex-gf showed up at his place. Then tried to get the guy back and he told her to suck his D to which she did then told her to gtfo to which she replied “fine I’m gonna report you for raping me.” She then reported him for rape. He let it go to trial and before he was going to be sentenced his lawyer presented the tape from the camera that the guy was messing with. Everyone in the court (including her parents) had to watch her give him head. I believe she actually served jail time though.
@InsaneWorm, 9 of them lied about it.
@InsaneWorm, i wanna becomes a lawyer and specialize in these kinds of cases and prosecute these women to the fullest extent and make an example out of as many as I could
@RiffRaff, it had to be b4 the sentencing part because if they were already up to that point then that means he already got convicted
@sgc6610, well yeah it was at the point where he wasn’t convinced yet then.
If only. I know more people who have had their lives ruined by false rape accusations, including a young man that later committed suicide, than woman that have been raped. A simple accusation, even when the man is then proven innocent, ruins a man's life. You get immediately fired, no questions asked. Then you can't get a job until proven innocent. And you have to be pretty rich to have a chance of that. The whole thing is disgusting.
Should be death penalty, because that's basically what happens ri the guys life no matter the truth
@Craiger, oh yea the guys life is totally ruined and it’s so messed up how the media covers it cause b4 he’s proven innocent he’s all over the news as a rapist and criminal it’s a major headline and after they find out he didn’t do it there’s just like 1 tiny paragraph in the middle of the paper that says remember that rapist piece of sh t btw he didn’t do it
Wait this seemed to have gone off tangent just a bit
Not gonna lie that took a turn
We had a local 16 yo girl in my area claim a guy kidnapped her by a park she was parked next to. Guy got arrested. It was all bad then a local business owner has a camera on his property that oversees his business and the park. The recording showed the guy just passed by in his car and did not stop. Girl literally had no punishment but a few momths in juviand the sikh guy didnt want to push it since he hopes she can learn from this.
@Implicit88, she wont
@sgc6610, i agree i would have pressured her to be tried as an adult. In my area there are a lot of Sikh people and racist ignorant people think they are muslim and talk smack to them for no reason. They actually begun holding public events with food provided to educate the locals about their religion.
Yeah! bulbas..wait a tic
