Anti-Vaxer parents are the worst. In others news, water is wet.
@Proactive Citizenry , the sun rose this morning.
I've got a friend that coaches wrestling, and they have an unvaccinated kid due to the parents. He has to practice by himself on the opposite side of the mat every day, and if any kid gets remotely sick he cant go to practice.
@Effectpanda, i feel bad for the kid but good on the coach for protecting the other kids
Why are there so many memes about all the kids dropping like flys when in reality they are not? Like ya vaccines are good to have, but there is no epidemic of kids dying. If we are going to encourage people to get vaccines at least lasts be honest about it. The risk of death is extremely low, what actually killed is largely manageable now. But the bigger issue is even if you survive there are life long disability, such as cognitive impairment and such, which is the real risk.
@phalcon , anti-vaxxers constantly exaggerate the risks and side effects of vaccines to the point where everything is a vaccine injury. This is just us pro vaxxers doing it too and saying "See how ridiculous it sounds? That's you. That's what society thinks of you."
@Cynic8387, Have you heard the “1 in 10 vaccinations cause serious harm” ‘statistic’ they come out with? I live in the UK, I had about 30 (some given as multiple vaccines in a single jab) by the time I was 15 - on that stat my entire generation should probably have been wiped out by vaccine side effects before we finished school! 🤣
@phalcon , pretty sure there was some incident where a country in South America had finally gotten rid of some dangerous disease (wanna day measles but idk) and then some unvaccinated kid on vacation from Italy brought it over and got a bunch of people infected with it
@nemestrinus , but they were all vaccinated so they easily fought it off... Unless the vaccines didn't work, of course..
@phalcon , because people are fed up with viruses that were all but extinct making a comeback at public schools due to to occasional jerk parent who thinks other kids being vaccinated means they shouldn’t have to vaccinate their kids since those other kids should be protected already. The thing they don’t understand is some kids have a much weaker immune system and being exposed to those stupid parents unvaccinated kids can truly risk the weak immune system kids life even if they are vaccinated l
@TheMightyImp, as I said in the last comment that kind of thinking is majorly flawed. Vaccines help prevent kids from getting a disease however if a child has a naturally weaker immune system they can still catch the disease from some unvaccinated kid. Thinking a vaccine protects you fully is like using a condom on a cheap prostitute and being surprised when you catch something. That is why schools ban students whose parents are too stupid to protect their kid, not to keep the unvaccinated kid safe but to protect the kids who have a weaker immune system.
@George Feeny, it's good to have a choice though. I'm no anti vaxxer, bit wouldn't it be terrible if we lived in a society where the government or peer pressure created a situation where people were forced to inject themselves or their children with chemicals. Sounds like science fiction. Lol
@TheMightyImp, I agree to an extent, you should be free to make that choice but not free to endanger other kids. I just think if your choice is to not protect your kid and instead risk exposing other kids at schools or just the general public in malls and such, you shouldn’t be allowed to use public services such as schools, malls, movie theaters, libraries, etc unless they wear proper hazmat gear. it’s not like you’re being banned for your race, or something you can’t control but for being a potential danger to people such as infants or the elderly. I do know some can’t get vaccinated due to their own weakened immune system but I assume those people already forgo such large public places to ensure they don’t catch anything so this wouldn’t really risk them anyways. I know this all sounds like a major over reaction but honestly it’s silly that people don’t understand the danger they can pose to others due to their actions. It’s like drunk driving, it’s pretty dang easy to not do it.
@George Feeny, don't get me wrong, I'm not disagreeing with you at all. The thing that puzzles me is why the default position of people on here regarding anti vaxxers is that their kids will be dead in 5 minutes of an outbreak, and yet we are now suggesting that their kids will live long enough to kill an entire city. Doesn't really make sense. Just thinking out loud, and certainly not intending to upset anyone. It's quite nice to get a healthy chat going about other people's viewpoints. I hope it didn't come across as dismissive or churlish
@George Feeny, but if you are banned from places the incentive to take a, procedure becomes an issue of cooersion.
Thats the slippery sloper of things.
We must avoid somethings not because they are a bad thing to do, but rather because it crosses, the line of personal freedoms.
In this case doing medical procedures against someone's will or coercing them to do it amounts to assault.
@phalcon , what people don’t seem to understand though is the bill of rights only applies to you until you begin to infringe on the rights of others. By being free to risk your kids lives you are endangering others. So honestly people can claim harassment or persecution or assault if they like but that doesn’t change the fact they don’t have the right to endanger others.
@George Feeny, you're endangering others because the planet is over populated. So we will have to kill you and about 1/2 the population...
See that's the problem, anyone can justify "its good fore the whole" to do a whole lot of evil things. That's what communism and socialism is about.
"for the good of the whole we have to take most of your paycheck"
Thats the point of having things lkke the bill of Rights, Canada's charter of Rights and freedoms. Rights that we have no matter what in order to prevent tyrannical governments from controlling people.
