The Magnus effect in action. The rotating ball creates areas of low and high pressure in such a way that at large falling heights the object appears to swerve dramatically off course. SCIENCE.
This was on reddit, when a ball spins it generates foreword motion, why baseballs and soccer balls curve
@Agent Fuzzy, Magnus effect 😁
@Agent Fuzzy, what subreddit, do you know?
@SweetieMcsugarbombs, Problaby TIL it was a while ago
@jacked the ripped, *dam
@Agent Fuzzy, this is from varitasiums youtube channle. Whats more impressive is the reason they were on the Damn was to make the highest basket ever and they did it after messing around.
@Agent Fuzzy, thx fam
@jacked the ripped, yup dirk from versabilum. [Any other hello Internet listeners here?]
@Agent Fuzzy, And airsoft pellets 😡
@Sir Unimpressive, your username says it all
@Agent Fuzzy, you seem knowledgable, tell me why when you spin a basketball in to the air (clockwise for instance) and it bounces, it spins counter clockwise on the way back up
@lakewood20, it depends on the grip of the ball and the ground, if they gave good grip, the ball will bounce and then grab on with that motion, be bounced and with that grab spin in the other way. With every motion there is an equal and opposite motion. Since the ball can't go trough the ground it bounces the opposite motion it was dropped. If you tried this on wet grass it would continue in the Same way because the basketball has nothing to grab on to.
@Epic Mickey831, ayyy I'm in flight school and I read about that
@doritolicious, hey! That's pretty sweet! As a profession?
@lakewood20, I don't believe so
@Agent Fuzzy, is there a name for that? Or is it just newtons laws and general circumstance?
@Agent Fuzzy, alright thanks(:
@Agent Fuzzy, but wait how amazing is that.. Camera zoom !!
@Epic Mickey831, no, my dad runs a flight school and getting s private pilots license at 17 looks really god on a med school application
@doritolicious, med school! Nice! I'm trying to go to med schooltoo
@doritolicious, I wanna work in the ICU. Do cool doctory stuff. I mean I'm a long way from it. Barely on my 2nd year of college, but Id like to do it
@Epic Mickey831, what do you want to do in the medical field?
@Epic Mickey831, cool, I wanna either go into anesthesiology or do dr without borders
@doritolicious, my cousin's studying to be an anesthesiologist. He says it's dope. What schools do you have in mind?
@Epic Mickey831, Tulane or lsu, you?
@doritolicious, either UCSF or UCLA
@Agent Fuzzy, it doesn't generate forward motion in this clip. It's the magnus effect, where a spinning body moving through a liquid (air is technically when talking in physics) creates pockets of low and high pressure around it depending on the direction, and I've great distances can provide a 'ramp' effect on spinning falling bodies.
Now go get the ball!
@Abusive Breasts, *gets ball* now what
@Barnacle Man, *throws it again
I can't be the only one who thought it was going in a basket..
@The Colombian, In the full video they throw another one into a basket.
For some reason, this is so satisfying...
Guess i know what im doin on my next vacation
@Nghtriderv3, *goes to janky creek and drops tennis ball*
@Non praying mantis , thank you! :)
Its fun until it becomes murder
Someone needs to make this meme finish with it caving someone's head in
Already seen on redit
Was anyone else expecting the ball to go through a hoop?
I really wanted to see it bounce on the ground ):
Could someone make a gif of this...with something jumping out of the water for the ball
Someone needs to do a Michael Bays remix on this. It may be an old meme, but it's still bloody awesome to watch
Well I hope someone is going to retrieve that ball.
@Punnypunpun, someone did, he had to swim out.
I thought he was gonna make it in a hoop
Didn't make it into a hoop. Not impressed.
@DexTressThumbS, Except they did in another section of the video.
This is what's known as the Magnus effect. It's pretty neat-o if you ask me
"Test subject worked, time to get the body"
Dude Perfect should try that shot
Dam... He went balls deep...
