I honestly didn't care for Maleficent. It totally butchered the story of Sleeping Beauty and I never could suspend my disbelief and take the film seriously. But that's just my opinion. My parents and sister saw it yesterday and they really liked it. To each his own I guess
@Sexy Homunculus, if we haven't seen the original Sleeping Beauty would it be a bad film or are there just bad things about the movie like plot, acting, etc.?
@FlippidyDoDa, I think the movie suffered from having a bad script. I felt like the story was lackluster and it made it difficult for the actors to do well. At first I didn't think Angelina Jolie was that great but once she showed up in Maleficent's black outfit I felt like she really began portraying the character better. I was looking forward to the film since Elle Fanning played Aurora and I really liked her in Super 8, but in Maleficent her character just seemed really boring. And I did think it was interesting that the guy from District 9 played her father King Stefan. However, the accent he used in the film made his character seem out of place (it sounded Irish but was kind of funky coming from a South African guy). Personally I didn't care for the film, but I've talked to most people who've seen it and they liked it. You should watch the movie and form your own opinion
@Sexy Homunculus, you...you replied...to me...
@Sexy Homunculus, okay.... *cries*
@Sexy Homunculus, you are my favorite person right now. I could not have expressed my dislike for the script any better.
@Sexy Homunculus, I really enjoyed it.
@Sexy Homunculus, As entertainment, I think it served its purpose - it was entertaining and visually pleasing, I didn't feel like walking out or anything. Still, I did find it a bit unbelievable in places and quite childish. I feel it would've been more interesting to cover more of Maleficent's background story and her relationship with Stephan in detail. I found the sudden end of the relationship and betrayal of Stephan a bit sudden and unexplained. I kept asking, 'what happened? Why does he hate her so much?'. I felt like he just turned evil for no reason other than driving the plot. However, I did enjoy the inclusion of the three fairies as more main characters enjoyable, reminded me of the original sleeping beauty.
I saw maleficent just the other day, and this seems fantastic. Can we fund this? Please?
@Thirsty Old Man, Yes, yes we can.
I just saw this movie today and I loved it. I must say I've never liked the original Disney's version of Sleeping Beauty and thought it was really neat how they remade their own plot. Plus, great effects and acting make this a wonderful movie.
I just saw this movie, it's actually pretty good

All these "Malefiftycent" jokes are making me feel like this is the actual movie.
