Broadcasters: Consumers use X streaming service too much, we want that traffic for ourselves!
PC game companies: Consumers are using Steam too much, we want that traffic for ourselves!
Consumers after this: Yo ho, yo ho...
@Pangbot, a pirate's life for me
@Pangbot, iean I completely agree with proprietary launchers and drm free games though. Not only is steam a drm that people have just accepted. But the past several years it's had no competition and has suffered from it.
I'm all for adding more options that will either eventually beat steam, or make it improve to stay relevant. I just wish more people would actually see it that way instead of fanboying on a dying system
@mazemarble, if i want my friends spread over a bunch of gaming platforms (or launchers) ill just buy console and not worry about hardware advantage.
@mazemarble, I like how people seem to think Steam has no competitors when trying to justify their view.
Forgetting that, you can still buy games on disk, Or digitally through Amazon, GOG.com, Origin, and a host of other services.
No, people are upset with Epic because of their business practices. Console gamers dont get it because they roll over and accept what they can and cant do with their console hardware. PC gamers aren’t mad because they dont want competition. They are mad because of the way that competition (Epic Games) is buying up exclusive rights to prevent others from being competitive and taking away choice.
Steam exists and does so well, because they provide a competitive platform that provides both great prices for the consumer and ease of use. They are not successful because they have no competition. As thats just not true.
Any hardcore gamer thats lived for more than 3 decades and has been a PC gamer nearly as long knows this....
@mazemarble, because we have used both physical disks and quite literally watched or used nearly every digital game download service there is or has been.
We dislike the restrictions and lack of compatibility along with exclusiveness consoles tend to force upon their users. Which is why we moved away from that platform and over to one that can do nearly anything or be as flexible as we want.
@Seohn, I've literally said nothing about consoles, and I'd prefer you don't assume my familiarity with gaming, as I've spent 2 decades on it myself. Yes steam has compitition, but it has no GOOD compitition. So I'm all for companies to keep trying. I won't touch epics store myself, mainly because I have no care for their games. But they obviously are not a good alternative by what your saying. And as to the man complaining about friends across multiple services, steam is far from the best option for that anyways. Skype, Evolve, Himachi, and anyone worth their salt knows at least Discord. Audio quality is better on any on of these services. Steam is still a good service. But I've watched it become bloated and stale with nobody even getting close to touching them.
@mazemarble, blizzard's battle net isn't bad. Only has their suite of games, but it's pretty streamlined
Ok. Then what?
@Beggar Mugger, if it hasn't worked, try to repeat the entire process.
I don't think a single person that has commented so far actually gets that this is a reference from The Office...
@bhohfeld, i know right! a late season stanley joke
@bhohfeld, it's stupid but it's my thing now.
@bhohfeld, and you’ll be saved!
the office was removed from netflix? but im watching it on netflix right as i type this. im on s7e4 atm
@Z0IDBERG, it will be. But idk when exactly
@Patamon, this seems like an especially stupid idea. If people are watching it, and nothing else, rather than introducing better content, they take away the good content so people are forced to watch their politically polluted bullshjt. Or people could just stop using Netflix, after jacking up their prices twice and took away their favorite show.
@Patamon, I just looked it up. Apparently NBCUniversal is to blame, not Netflix.
@Empshok, probably want exclusive rights or a fvckton more money now that it’s super popular again psh
@Z0IDBERG, in 2020
@bigpapazero20four, i better hurry up and finish
@Empshok, That’s not how things work, my friend. Netflix doesn’t care what people watch, as long as it’s on Netflix. They paid huge bucks to keep “Friends” on the service ‘till 2020 because people wanted them to. This is the product of every company ever creating a streaming service.
@Pseudonymble , NBC universal own/bought the rights and are creating their own streaming service. In the next 5 years every stupid network will have their own streaming service due to the success of Netflix and Hulu. The problem is that those streaming service had content from multiple networks so it was good. Moving forward,you'll end up having to pay the same as a cable bill to have 12 different streaming services with like 2 good shows on each.
@Drunk Pantless Uncle, at least currently the NBC streaming service is free. It just has a couple of ads like the cheaper version of hulu.
@Empshok, literally only reason i kept netflix was for the office. Guess im a full time hulu user now
Netflix is starting to not be worth it anymore...
These people are too lazy to watch a new show, you really think they're going to do paperwork?
Ohhh Stanley... I’m sure your wives and girlfriends are constant laughing.
Has anyone heard of Pirate Bay?? Netflix pfftt it shouldn’t be Netflix and Chill it should be Pirate Bay and don’t pay.
This is also how you get a WoW subscription cancelled by your parents reactivated.
Or... crazy thought... you could just BUY the damn series on DVD!
Seriously, some of you fail to understand how fortunate you are, that you can buy an ENTIRE SEASON or SERIES to watch at your own leisure, instead of being at the mercy of syndicated television or worse yet, "Best of" compilation VHS tapes.
AT&T took over Warner media and are yanking all shows and movies associated and will release them on an exclusive streaming service. You're welcome
I feel like it would've been better if it had been more believable.
