I wonder how skewed this is by college/university students going to their school library to study.
@ChessBobPhil, probably very
@ChessBobPhil, They call that a Simpson’s paradox in statistics
@Pvt BB Ghanoush, hey gotta start somewhere
@ChessBobPhil, I know I'm probably the outlier but where I live the movie theater is an hour away, but there are 4 libraries within 30 minutes. So atleast where I live I could believe that
@ChessBobPhil, as true as that is, it still means people are reading and studying... so thats nice.
@ChessBobPhil, to be fair.. does that matter? Library at least means they’re putting in effort😅
@ChessBobPhil, my guess is 99%
@ChessBobPhil, and throw in the streaming services now that allow u to watch most everything from home.
@dadood fromcheers, believe it or not, there are more libraries than McDonalds in the United States.
Probably a money thing. Most libraries are free if you live in the city, where as a movie is $12+? Plus some libraries actually have video games you can check out.
@TheAnderson, and movies! Wait...
Well, I mean, the library is free, and movies are, well, the opposite...
A lot of libraries here rent movies...
Because everyone was watching Netflix?
Just FYI a good number of public libraries have a movie section and a video game section (but shhhh don’t share that secret)
That has to include all types of school libraries
Considering hollywood has stopped making decent movies (with some exceptions) that aren't bad, reboots, woke pieces of media, a combination of all 3, l wouldnt doubt if this is true.
There’s movies you can rent at the library.
Well, they have free DVDs at the library. Not as good of a selection as a video store, but still free.
Just to take a shït
Do people still go to the movies? Only been to theater maybe twice in the last 3 years
As someone entering the film industry, this terrifies me. As someone concerned about societal education, this pleases me
Given that they can count tickets, but no one ever counted me at the library, I find this statistic to be dubious at best.
@Raterpillar , Libraries don't require tickets to enter but to check anything out you must register. The library tracks whatever item is checked out to track local community usage and predict future needs.
The only time I went to a library was as a kid when my parents didn’t get off work until late so I had to wait somehwre to be picked up
Probably not true
