Parenting done right, people.
@Ajunta Pall, you mean you’re not supposed to just smack him and tell him to get his shjt together?
@Ajunta Pall, overpowered MC mom protag power
What a legend
@Awc123awc, a real powerhouse of a mother !
The principal said no to this woman? The balls!
@seeUpee, surprise he has a face , I bet her slap power is over 9,000
Mom of the century right there
Heres the thing though ... as lovely and sweet as this story is, you must prove to your local district that you are home schooling instead with an approved program. You cant just pull your kid and say “were done here indefinitely”. There are compulsory education laws in the USA that vary by state but are generally between 15 and 17.
@tbsrk, I mean, you can do exactly what she did and fight whatever consequences the authoritarians believe should be administered.
@big freedom, im all for fighting the authoritarians. I also need to know exactly what rules need to be broken
She could have done all that without pulling him from school though. Kind of weird her first thought isn’t to try all that first and instead jumps straight to pulling him from school.
Where was his dad...*sees picture* ahh, he went out for milk and cigarettes
He doesnt look like he is in the 3rd grade
You can’t just indefinitely pull your kids from school. Sure, you can take a month off, for some kids (if they are behind already) that would set them back quite a bit but there needs to be a plan in place. I teach third and it is sad to hear kids that young with depression. My students (whom I am with all day and pride myself on my relationship with) are still fairly innocent, carefree and happy about life in general.
@madeyoulook2, most of the stuff is useless or repeated. He wont miss out. I learned more on my own. Than school.
When I was in the 3rd grade,*sobs* everyone treated me like a criminal...
“My brother was getting depressed because of school when he was in the third grade. It was clear that he was going through it. My mother said f*ck that sh*t... ... ...”
“Tired of dropped calls? Come to Sprint.”
The biggest thing we should take away from this story is that she took the time to actually listen to him and not just give him a bunch of platitudes and hope for the best. As someone who battles his inner demons everyday just to make an excuse to take a shower, if you suspect or know someone you care about has depression, take the time to sit down and talk with them and really listen and try to empathize with them and their situation. It could literally mean the difference between life and death.
Schools think that because they're right 95% of the time, that it applys to 100% of the people
@butternut squash, Well, don't most people? I mean, 95% is pretty darn close to guaranteed.
@TheKen42, if 95% is pretty darn close, then explain the world's zero covid policys
@butternut squash, How'd we go from schools to covid?
@TheKen42, it was covid this whole time
@butternut squash, The post is talking about depression, and you seemed to be taking about schools being right. Covid is mentioned nowhere in either. If you were referring to it, then you were not clear enough.
