Can someone confirm this? Is this an actual thing or just a shjtpost?
Well, We have them on Fridays..
@Devious Olive , at HIGH Noon!
@bigMoory, same here, first Friday of each month
@Condrolla , and are these like fairly harmless ones compared to others or is it just because you expect them?
@bigMoory, nope, we’re immune those days
@Condrolla , nice
@bigMoory, I work in Kansas every now and then. On Wednesday they have drill tornado sirens (as long as the weather is clear). As a non local it freaks me the fvck out every time
@bigMoory, in the Midwest the very first tornado siren after getting a new pet is a rite of passage. My parents corgi didn’t give a rats @ss about it, little guy was 4 months old.
@bigMoory, in STL it's on Tuesdays, and no, I don't give 2 fvcks when I hear them
@Not him again, not gonna lie, kinda loving all these stories of non-fvckery
@bigMoory, in central Indiana it’s Friday’s at 11
@bigMoory, Thursdays here
@bigMoory, tornadoes hold no power over the midwestern people on Wednesdays. On Wednesday, we ascend from our fleshy, mortal prisons and become temporary gods
@bigMoory, I grew up in a small farming town, population 600. Every week day at 6am, noon, and 6 pm the tornado siren would blow for exactly 5 seconds. On the weekend it was only noon and 6 pm. We also had trains at 10 am, 2 pm, and 7 pm. I just remember that when I was out playing as a kid, all our friends and I had to be home for dinner at the 6pm whistle during the school year, and when the last train of the day during the summer.
@XiozTaschez, damn i can hear the caddydids singing and the creak of the tree limb that the rope swing was tied on while reading this.
@mycatsanahole, the day that branch broke was a sad day, indeed.
@bigMoory, small town in texas here, every Wednesday at 7 pm they blow the siren to test it.
@bigMoory, last time there was a real tornado my brother in law and I sat on the porch and smoked cigars watching all the crazy weather :/
@bigMoory, Auburn Al tested there's every Wednesday at noon
@bigMoory, In Tulsa Oklahoma the test the sirens on Wednesday
@bigMoory, When I was in college in Edmond, Oklahoma, the test tornado siren was at noon on Saturday and would sound for 5 minutes. My sleep deprived and caffeine addled self was always deeply displeased at being woken from my coma.
Mine are on the first saturday of each month
@Dolorous Fvcking Edd, I've got one at the baseball fields across the street, and it's every second Tuesday.
@Dolorous Fvcking Edd, same here. Every first Saturday
We have sirens on every first Wednesday of the month, but ours are for nuclear reasons
Similar to “Earthquake Tuesdays” here in CA but we cap it off with tacos.
@Pysch is Awesome, like the quake we had yesterday morning
@megamanx181x, Na. It’s a Friday...
Ours is every Saturday at noon
Every Friday at 11:00 AM. Them there tornados run a tight schedule!
Y'all actually have drills? We don't even have a siren
We dont have tornado sirens in Hawaii, we have the tsunami sirens. They go off on the first post-holiday weekday of the month.
First Wednesday of every month in Ohio the tornado sirens are tested. It’s always been a thing here. It’s never been an issue for me until I went to college downtown Columbus Ohio, when instead of JUST the silent-hill like siren, a woman’s voice echoed in the skyscrapers: “TESTING. TESTING. TORNADO SIREN, FRANKLIN COUNTY.”
1st Wednesday of the month at 10am here in Alabama
