@Deafchurch, they spent over 4 billion to purchase the rights to Star Wars. The production and marketing costs were about $500 million they’re still 2.8 billion in the hole if they kept all the take on ticket sells, but they only get about 60% so they are actually still about 3.3 billion in the hole. TLJ netted about 400 million, after production, marketing, and ticket sells percent, so they’re now 2.9 billion in the hole. RoS netted about 300 million (optimistically, but rumors suggest the production costs were significantly higher than reported due to reshoots and rewrites). So they’re now 2.6 billion in the hole. Oh boy, not looking too good for ol’ Disney. Rogue One adds another 350 million and Solo lost money, not much, but it didn’t add profit. Next consider all the theme park flops, the nearly absent toy sells, and the other media that just isn’t selling (excepting, of course baby yoda and the mandalorian) or were canceled mid production. In short, Disney has utterly failed.

@Hot Coffee, Disney literally tried making a rip off of something they owned. Like Disney star wars land: "What do kids want to see? Tattoine? Mos Eisley? The cantina? The places that everyone knows? Nah, let's just make our own knock off and call it "star wars". They aren't trying to sell a good story or whatever. They're trying to sell a brand. They think slapping "star wars" over anything will suddenly increase its value.

@Deafchurch, a lot of that initial money they've made was them cashing in on good will from the fans, who hoped they'd make something good. After the force awakens, lots of people were turned off of new star wars content. Hence the much lower profits on the newer episodes. Eventually they aren't going to be able to bring in enough people to pay for the costs of making a movie, and i wouldn't be surprised if that happens before they've made their money back on the initial purchase, let alone any real profit.

@Deafchurch, BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA… oh wait, you’re serious. It’s possible they will get their act together, there’s even signs that they’re making headway to that end with the sidelining of Kathleen Kennedy. But I will believe it when I see it. I really hope they do because I love Star Wars and really want more, but only if it’s good.
They won’t do that because that would be a strong male character and that would be toxic. According to them. I on the other hand would pay to see it.
