This is exactly how espn presents sports records.
"This is the first time since 2006 a man has run 86 yards on a tuesday with wind blowing southwest with it being 3 days away from his birthday"
"Truly an incredible athlete jim"
@robee, my brother and me also make fun of this by saying exaggerated things like that. We watch all different sports but it really only happens on football(american) and baseball. Basketball also gets it sometimes.
@tha5th, i honestly love them because it means someone is getting paid to dig up meaningless stats like that lol
@tha5th, I feel like basketball does it worse than baseball
@robee, true that. "Last time a quarterback was able to pass for more than 150 yards before the half while a Ryan was sitting in row Q seat 7 eating a hot dog with no ketchup only mustard and 2 coaches that went to the same high school had lunch together at the stadium was 1956. And I think we all remember one."
@Thatbright, Now that I think about it, everyone is pretty bad. There's just so many possible statistics that are somewhat relevant, that it's difficult to categorize.
@tha5th, that was a great example, i almost spit out my drink reading it lol. I think its easy for them to do that because every athlete has their stats so carefully documented that all they have to do is find an event and sort by highest yards
@tha5th, they have to fill so much time in baseball and football, it's no surprise the discussion can get so meaningless
@tha5th, surprisingly soccer is not too bad every now and again you get some but they are usually busy talking about the game. unless you are talking about after game highlights then ya it happens.
@robee, that’s why I love about the commentators they just say the most blatantly obvious things like “it’s 4th down and 1 and they’re going for it that means that they’re gonna have to gain a yard here otherwise they’ll turn it over on downs of course they could always take a loss of yards or even throw an interception or fumble the ball” yes thanks for listing pretty much every possible thing that can happen I didn’t know how football works
@tha5th, they really go crazy with the bs stats in football for some reason
@robee, and then we have John Madden switching back and fourth between incoherent rambling and yelling FOOTBALL
People die when they are killed
Well since the earth is flat shouldn’t we be able to see the moon all the time
