@LaDarkProphet, while I absolutely support that people should donate, I can't because it physically hurts my vein to have that needle in. I can't explain it beyond me being a redhead and supposedly feeling more pain. I've donated several times over my life and I've done almost everything I could to take my mind off of it but it just plain hurts.
-
@LaDarkProphet, okay well first things first, it most certainly isnt always painless. I donate blood all the time and you're probably going to feel some little pinches when they prick your finger and when you actually give blood. It hurts a bit, I'm not a fan of it, but it lasts a few seconds and then it's over and you're helping to save lives. It doesnt help anyone to tell them that its painless when it generally isn't. You'll feel it, it's just so short lived that the fact you're helping to save lives will completely surpass the minor instance of pain. Also there's a difference in pain tolerance and not feeling pain. Having a high pain tolerance means you can feel the pain, but you're able to bear it. Not feeling the pain is completely different.

@BIessthefaII, Allright well sorry cupcake but apart from the finger prick, i dont feel the needle. There is no pain, barely even a slight pressure. Thats MY experience. So when i say there is no pain, that means when i donate, just did last Friday, i felt no pain. And ive talked to plenty of people and nurses who agree that there is no NOTICEABLE pain. Pain and pressure are different things. Just because you feel something doesn't mean it hurts or not. Pain is subjective. For me it CERTAINLY is painless. Apart from the finger prick. But even that is more of an annoyance then any real "pain". Like i said. Im probably broken. But considering how many other people have told me its painless i dont see what your problem or attitude is.
-
@LaDarkProphet, well you not feeling the needle doesnt make the rest of the world "cupcakes." It's normal to feel a fvcking needle going into your arm mate. You can go around telling people they're not going to feel it all you want, but the reality is the vast majority of them will. You're over here saying that its "painless" and then you're saying that pain is subjective. It being painless for you doesnt mean its painless for others. I'm not the one with the attitude, I just offered another perspective. Dont like it? Sucks for you buddy.

@BIessthefaII, And all the dozens of other people who say its painless? Needles are designed to be so sharp that it slides into the skin. They are meant to be painless. Granted, some people simply dont like needles therefore their own mind makes the experience more painful but is that is an entirely different discussion. Your original comment seemed quite aggressive for just being "another perspective". Course thats my interpretation now isnt it? And i did not say that the needle hurting made people cupcakes. I said you were a cupcake. Getting all pissy cause someone said they didnt whine when giving blood. Its quite sad really. And a vast majority? I doubt it. Considering the population who get tattoos and say its almost painless, im going to assume that the majority of the population arnt cry babies. Just remind those people to stay out of professions where they might get boo boos. Thinking you might be one of em mate. And theres nothing wrong with that. Nothing at all.
-
@LaDarkProphet, see that's your issue. You're out here assuming I'm getting all pissy when all I did was add another side of the story to a comment that plenty of people will see. People are going to be reading your comment, so you might want to give them ALL the facts then right? Saying that giving blood is painless is just false. That's too absolutist. Maybe its painless for you, but it isnt painless for others. If you cant handle other people adding their two cents without turning all defensive, maybe you should stay off the internet (: ALMOST painless is not the same thing as painless. I have plenty of tattoos and I completely agree, they dont hurt very much. Do they hurt? Sure, I think they do. Not very much, in my opinion, but pain is pain. It's a needle and you're there for hours. Is it unbearable? Not for me but it may be for others. You turn two simple comments into some big ordeal because you think someone is challenging you. Quite a fragile little ego you've got there eh?
-
@BIessthefaII, Says the one who blew a single comment out of proportion. Defensive? Not even close. Mearly adding my own two cents to your aggressive attitude and pissy nature. I said its painless and you had to push up your glasses and go, "Well actually..." which i find adorable. Way to take a heartfelt psa and make it all about you ^-^ And you say im the one with a fragile ego? Adorable. Yes i suppose i COULD have been just as pedantic as you and say, "Well its mostly painless to some people, virtually painless to others, and extremely painful to a select few." But that seemed like far to much work for what i thought was going to be a short ended psa. But i forgot this is the internet and people like you simply cant resist to make the conversations about themselves in some way or another, be it passive or aggressive. And yes thank you for pointing out the obvious fact that there is indeed a difference between almost painless and painless. (One sec)
-
@BIessthefaII, The point is that if a vast majority of the population can get a tattoo, which as you explain is a far more complicated procedure, with almost no pain then surely a donation would be childs play in comparison. But of course such a concept seems to be outside your capacity to understand. Not that im surprised. Anyway im done with this conversation. Im tired and wish to go to bed. You can continue to whine and complain and be as pedantic as you desire.

@Leslie Knope 2020, Care to link me to your sources that say yes? (Non anecdotal of course) I’ve been following and I’m a little curious haha, I haven’t been able to find any reliable sources online that say it’s true (and I’ve found plenty that say it’s false) but I could just be bad at researching.

@Leslie Knope 2020, What you saw was misinterpretation. Its psychically impossible, due to the mosquitoes biology and the way human skin and muscles work. Most likely what you saw was a sick mosquito over engorging on blood to the point it burst. Death by gluttony. Otherwise, just flexing does not impede or stop a mosquito in any way. Wont even faze it. It might actually make the human easier to feed on because flexing for long periods of time would cause blood to rush to the surface. Anyway, no you cannot flex and make mosquitoes explode. Its physically impossible. Sorry.
This reminds me. Pls donate to your local red cross when you can if you can. Most places accept walk ins or you can call and make an appointment. Its painless and will save someone's life. They will also send you a card that has your blood type on it. This is important to keep in your wallet in case of an accident or emergency. They can pick up your wallet and immediately know what blood type you are for any transfusions you may need. Thank you.
