For those who don't know, 250,000+ people have signed up to storm area 51 because "They can't stop us all". It's pretty obvious that very few, if any of them will actually show up.
@Gamasennin, people are stupid. Just like those guys that tried walking into a police station with shotguns and tactical gear if I remember correctly. Just for a prank video.
@Gamasennin, don’t underestimate stupid people
I'm not sure how they plan on handling these retards, but I doubt they'll just shoot them if they show up in large numbers. It would be an absolute nightmare for our military if they shot that many us citizens.
@aminalFacks, The military has quite a few crowd control options that don't involve lead. None of them are particularly nice though. For example, they have a directed energy weapon in the form of a wave emitter (think giant satellite dish mounted to a light vehicle) that works like a microwave. It only agitates your skin, but it'll feel like you just touched a hot stove all over whichever side of your body is exposed to it.
It's more likely though that they'll just launch tear gas and/or pepper canisters at anyone stupid enough to actually try to rush the fence. Given how nasty that shît is, it'll probably be enough to stop them.
@Gamasennin, I know exactly what you're talking about. I think they put them on cargo ships now to ward off pirates.
@aminalFacks, That's a pretty good use for them. Ships aren't allowed to carry weapons, and it's technically not a weapon. Just a really nasty deterrent.
I've also heard of them carrying heavy duty fireworks launchers to scare off pirates.
@Gamasennin, nope... nothing bad will happen folks. If you show up don’t worry about a thing. The more that show up the better. We will not use this as a “training exercise” we only do those in remote areas... wait...
@Gamasennin, I’ve been tear gassed and pepper sprayed before and had to do an obstacle course after. I’m ready to put all that anti terrorist training into some acts of terrorism
@aminalFacks, they use sonic canons against pirates. It might be a bit much for civilians acting dumb, though I think they've used weaker versions on groups before
@Gamasennin, I mean if they want to have fun they can just start shooting the idiots with simunition
@aminalFacks, I was told Area 51 was defended by private contractors for the sole purpose that the military wouldn't take flak for killing civilians
@aminalFacks, Area 51 is basically a few buildings in the middle of 60 square miles of fenced-off dessert. I’m fairly sure that “ignore them while they run around lost in the wilderness, then just pick them up before they die” is a viable option here.
@Gamasennin, at the same time, I think the guards do have permission to shoot trespassers on sight. Idk for sure though.
I mean, even if one about 10% of the people who signed up actually went, thats still a pretty large number. Granted it likely wouldn’t lead to anything because if the government was hiding anything there the internet has now broadcasted its plans so its not like the government would be unprepared
@The nOly One, Oh, they are hiding stuff there. It's just not what these people think it is. Area 51 was (and probably still is) the the main test area for secret aircraft. It's far enough out in the desert that they can take off and land planes without people getting a good look at them, which is why they tested the early stealth planes out there. If I had to bet, I'd say that at least some of the recent UFO stories from the news are whatever secret prototype technologies they're currently testing.
I mean, random flying objects that are only sometimes picked up by military scanners and sensors, look weird, and can move/maneuver are crazy speeds? That sounds like proof of concept testing to me. Basically, 'Hey, look! We can make this thing that's super awesome. Keep giving us money so we can keep testing and make it into an undetectable and almost impossible to shoot down bomber'.
