Ask a man his salary. The only people who benefit from keeping it a secret are employers.
@ThePandaPool , completely agree. If people were more open about how much they make, more people would be making what they deserve.
@Light Skinned Brotha, i make cookies
@Light Skinned Brotha, I agree, but it's best if you don't know exactly how much each of your coworkers make, and just averages for experience and position. Know exactly how much each person makes can cause a lot of conflict when some people who think they're great (when there're not) make a stink about why others are being paid more
@CJWJ, good point. Make it easier for everyone to be exploited so no one gets butthurt.
@ThePandaPool , the problem is that not everyone deserves more, but of course people will think that they deserve the same money because they have the same "position" when in reality one of them does way more work and the other does jack shjt. and if they find out they are being paid less, then they're going to throw a fit even if they don't deserve the money the other person is making.
@Swagnamite, and the exact opposite exists, and it is better for the lazy guy to get butthurt than it is for the hard worker to get exploited.
@ThePandaPool , true, but not everyone is exploited, and more often than not you'll have the lazy people getting mad and then the lazy people will get more money they don't deserve. yeah the system isn't perfect, but not everyone deserves the same amount of money, that's why I find the "wage gap" to be so disingenuous because no, not everyone should be paid the same because not everyone is doing the same amount of work. I know that's not what you're talking about specifically, but it just irritates me when people think that everyone should be paid the same, that gives you absolutely no incentive to actually work hard..
@Swagnamite, for the most part, other than cases involving risk and liability, where minor differences should be irrelevant and people should get equal pay. But... this isnt the point I was making at all.
@ThePandaPool , I know it's not, and I said I know it's not, if you can read, I was just bringing this up because it's one of the most used arguments in people not getting paid the same, but hell no, if I'm doing twice as much work as you are you do not by any means deserve to make the same amount just because we are doing the same "type" of work, if I'm doing way more of it and am way more valuable to the company. it's just like with professional sports, you're playing the same game, but the people playing it at a higher level deserve more money than the people who aren't as good.
@Light Skinned Brotha, you’re right, I had a co worker who was there a year longer than me who was showing me the ropes of the place and doing the same job but he was getting paid way less, we figured that out and he got a raise
@ThePandaPool , it would be nice if salary and wages were public record. Not by person, but by job.
@ThePandaPool , Adam Ruins Work. A great episode that covers this.
@Marie Celeste, yes sir. Great show.
@Swagnamite, if there were literally only one person who was being exploited for their hard work with shît pay, I would rather see all “lazy” workers get paid “more than they deserve” if it would mean that the one person being exploited also got their fair wage.
As an Argentinian I can confirm... many, many times with German friends down there the first question was when their family migrated...
I don’t understand....
@Nurse Joy, during and after the end of World War 2, many Nazi officials decided to flee Germany, finding refuge in South America, namely Argentina.

@megamanx181x, you know it! I said it several times... right on the money!
@seeUpee, tell us about german grand daddy...
@megamanx181x, Ahahah sorry, both sides of my family are 100% Italian. One migrated before the war even started and the others while it was happening. My grandfather used to tell me how they had nothing to eat and had to boil tree roots during the war as kids
@seeUpee, horrible man, glad they got out before that asshole Mussolini made them go to war
I’m Argentinian and a quarter German. My grandpa was a literal Nazi. RIP though he was alright
