@Dephenistrator, then find the strength to be the one to call him out. Chances are, everyone else feels the same but are too chicken to take a stand. Document specific incidents and quotes (email a trusted colleague or yourself to establish times and frequency), inform HR about your concerns, and politely tell him to knock it off.

@JDPhi, i have started. I have told him several times what he says was racist and the whole group laughed at me. I live in Washington state so here it's dangerous to do this. But i am looking for another job and when i leave I'm dropping all my concerns on hr (i work at a hospital and saw things that make me wanna quit) I'm gonna add this to a list of concerns but it's a he said she said over here and the bosses ALWAYS vouch for them. I've tried. I can't stand this kind of environment

@Dephenistrator, a hospital is a workplace where the highest level of professionalism is expected (from the doctors down to landscapers). Document, document, document. Send yourself an email from your work email, to your work email and CC your personal email. I completely understand that “it’s not a big deal” environment, I work in law enforcement and get subjected to awful things all day; but there is always a line. Seek guidance from your supervisor, and document your notes of the conversation immediately afterwards. If you make waves and get vilified for it, these emails/notes are the best weapon you can have against a hostile work environment.

@JDPhi, me and a friend have been documenting everything. That's a good idea to email it to myself i will probably do that. The problems here are so bad. There's racism all over, mostly asians and Hispanics hating on each other (the whites and blacks seem least racist here, not at all actually) but there's other disturbing problems. My manager never did any of our jobs before and all but one of his least important supervisors quit in a months time, and he's attempting to do there jobs. He's not UV light testing our rooms anymore. Most of us caught on to that and my crappier coworkers are "learning" new ways to do their rooms faster by not cleaning anything at all that isn't visibly bloodied or messy. My manager is loving their work because his times look better. I have coworkers argue with me when i use gloves or clean a toilet because "it looks fine, don't do that!" Half my coworkers don't know English, computers or both enough that they can't log what they do or receive orders. -cont

@JDPhi, my manager is weak when confrontation occurs and lets these people ignore orders literally for hours talking instead of cleaning. I've seen nurses continue to talk about bull like what they had for breakfast after i tell them a patient is in pain and struggling. They never care. My coworkers will even do their half assed cleaning in isolation rooms, some with the flu some even have things like tuberculosis. My coworkers lie, spread rumors, try to setup people to get in trouble with the boss based on race. The Hispanics and asians act like there is a turf war going on. My manager is asking people to entire eight hour jobs along side their work because he doesn't understand how much work is involved. Once my manager had to clean a surgery room and I saw him cleaning blood on the floor with a rag without gloves. My manager lies to other supervisors to skirt work and leave problems too large for night crew and then rooms aren't available for new patients in the mornings, even -cont
-
@JDPhi, even potentially emergency or surgery patients. My coworkers are supposed to clean both sides (both beds) in a double room even if the other is cleaned if one is isolation. But they dont, they leave it and only clean one side so it's exposed to whatever illness was there for the new patient. My manager NEVER checks on us because he wouldn't know what to look for anyway and things are getting disturbing. Every time i bring something up i am treating as weird, or stupid. Mostly i am flat out laughed at. I feel wrong working here now, i used to feel good about my job but this is disturbing shjt. It goes all the way up to the top. I am documenting this but jeeze, It is so bad.

@Dephenistrator, sounds like a very disgusting, dysfunctional environment. These biohazards should be brought to the attention of the relevant government agencies (county or state health departments?), and your observations should be sent up the chain of command. The medical administrators would surely have issues with those safety concerns

I mean.. I haven’t changed one bit and I never hide my feelings or opinions and will always be proud of who I am and I am a white dude. I don’t catch sh*t or hide behind my computer. I just don’t back down no matter who or how many people attack me. What ruins things is when my fellow white dudes act like got damn pussies and don’t tell these real racists judging to f*ck off and all the other racists don’t back up others as well and let people be racist to people who did nothing, which goes both ways. But it’s hilarious to see hate towards others is okay on different sides. Anyone who only backs up those own race are just terrible people. Either back up all or f*ck off.

@satan of the north, I also do not see where you draw the connection between my confusion over the original phrase and me trying to be self righteous and/or arrogant. I looked up that phrase “get off the cross, we need the wood” (I had never heard it before) and found that it is meant to be a response to someone fishing for pity. I’m confused because I really wasn’t going anywhere near fishing for pity. As for me being arrogant, I did say “please be more like me” BUT I did it in direct reference to the fact that I said I just let people who are different do their own thing without me trying to force them one way or another.

@Lord Wivern, I was saying that as don't call yourself a role model and ask people to be like you. You're not Jesus. That's the thing I try to do that but it's these other people who butt into my business and say I'm wrong with no evidence other than I'm a straight white male. The fact that I have to censor myself just to not be called a racist for a non racial statement is bs and essentially strips me of free speech.
Yea, you better capitalize the I in WhIte.
