If he gets paid $1326 every 2 weeks, that’s $34,000 roughly a year. They make it seem like he’s bringing in 100k a year
@Tethyx, can confirm, $34,000 is not a lot to live on.
@RMB, depends on where you live.
@RMB, 1325/80(biweekly pay)=16.5...meaning spongebob works nearly 80hrs a week...if he is putting in that much dedication there is no reason he wouldnt move up in his industry...unless he didnt want to..meaning that if he wanted to he could make much more than he currently does. Or at least make the same with less effort having been promoted or found a better job. The point is...he isnt limited to 34k, he could easy find a job with better opportunities. Therefore it is his own fault that he is in the situation he is in...
@MMSieBreeze, have yoi seen Spongebob. There is no promoting and except in one episode he doesnt care.
@Tethyx, I don't understand why they say that 8.50 is fair based on krusty krab revenue. It would make sense if it were like a McDonald's and he worked with 4 other people in the back. This sponge works the whole kitchen on his own. Should be making 30 an hour considering the work load. Then again Krabs is a cheepskate
@PoliticalOtters, absolutely right, I was in a big city when I made that kind of money. Worst scenario
@Tethyx, to be fair we dont know the tax structures of bikini bottom or the housing market. He could have gotten his home extremely cheaply and with low taxes has plenty of disposable income. They've shown that healthcare costs for sponges are relatively minimal (with exception for some diseases) which probably affords him a much less risky lifestyle than most under the sea. Additionally I'd say holiday and other bonus pays probably arent considered but given his work ethic he likely takes advantage of all the hours he can get
@TheWhiteWolf, have they ever actually mentioned a government? I know in the movie they mentioned king Neptune but I don't remember them ever mentioning a mayor or anything
@theshadosnipe, I believe they've mentioned a mayor or city council at one of the ribbon cutting ceremonies
@RMB, ok but pineapple is roughly $2.75 /lb. I'm more surprised he doesn't have a vacation home!
@Tethyx, he can skip out on food expenses since he filter feeds. He also seemingly gets free patties. He's single, doesn't date, and his home was made from a seed.
I dont know where this guy is getting his math from. That's 15 hours a day 6 days a week, so 90 hours a week.
40 hours of that at 8.50 is 340. The other 50 would be overtime at a rate of 12.75, which is 637.5. He makes 977.5 every week, so about 45k a year give or take.
@Not him again, I did all this math before checking the comment section. I got $50,830 a year, but that assumes no vacation time and no taxes
@Redtiger, I didnt add up the yearly sum, I just ball parked it. But yeah you're right
@Not him again, you are assuming mr Krabs pays time and a half for overtime. I doubt that very much.
@Rowule, well it's the law after 40 hours, and you can't make an hourly wage if you are salary. I doubt krabs wants the law on him
@Not him again, I’m sure he’s found some way of skirting it.
@Rowule, true. I'm forgetting spongebob logic
@Not him again, I was just thinking what if he gets ot but even still his math is wrong he makes 1530 byweekly before taxes of course
I mean.... do you really think Mr. Krabs is the kind of guy that pays minimum wage?
Mr Krabs seems like the kind of guy who wouldn’t allow that much overtime. I have a feeling spongebob puts in a lot of those hours off the clock
Mr Krabs doesn't pay his employees
I dont think he bought the pineapple at a price yall think. Dont you remember the episode where he plants the left over seed and a new house grew?
I love Spongebob lore
Yeah..... you can’t buy a house for that much now a days.
Not to mention he offered to work for free for a whole year in one episode.
Plot twist: Spongebob is paid on salary and thus his hours worked are irrelevant.
It might help that he’s only 4 inches tall so his living space doesn’t need to be very big...
He must he debt free.
If he is getting 1326 a pay net then he probably actually makes about 50k gross.
99% sure he reveals in an episode that Mr. Krabs only pays him like a dime a day
When a sponge makes more money than you
I mean...he lives in a damn pineapple. He probably just moved in. All he had to do was pay for furnishing. Boating school probably isn’t that expensive. Did the show ever say he gets $8.50?
