that's a no no
I'm convinced these things are people trolling or just trying to make other groups look bad.
@ThePandaPool , they are definitely both. I went to wish my cousin who I don't really talk to hbd because it popped up on FB and he had a thing on their freaking out about how "liberals were pushing pedophilia on America etc etc" and one below it that was blocked by fb about how marrying a 10 y/o is now allowed in Cali (fake of course) and I realized that people like him are "trying to be good people" but they honestly have been brain washed by stuff like this that other people post but don't actually believe. I mean clearly my cousin is probably a nut case but still.
@ThePandaPool ,I always say that I love a good troll... like Skankhunt42
@The Big Hodge, find out Netflix political affiliation, businesses have them now, then watch "Cuties" a movie funded and produced by Netflix.
@ConfusedWhat, so cuties wasn't funded by or produced by netflix. it was produced by a french company and distributed by BAC films. the film its self is commentary on the hypersexualization of minors in Europe. tbh Netflix put that poster (which is what caused the controversy) up because it was flashy and Americans like flashy things. I highly doubt that you can actually prove that there is a true connection. if netflix were right leaning they would most certainly do the same thing. I can almost guarantee you that if you took a good long look and conservative leaning companies over the years , you would find some very similar screw ups
@seeUpee, cant say I agree with you. I want to get that reference, but I cant remember it for the life of me. So very familiar though.
@ThePandaPool , South Park bro! How Kyle’s dad trolls everyone, hilarious
@The Big Hodge, you dont make make pedophile content to criticize pedophilia. I get the argument that the movie is theoretically a criticism of over sexualizing minors, but then it does just that very explicitly. Another way to think about it is, would you murder somebody in order to say you shouldn't murder that person? Its just a stupid argument and seems more like an excuse to do something disgusting.
@seeUpee, duh. Thanks. It was gonna bother me that I couldn't remember.
@spongeblade, I mean the whole movie is from the narrative that what this group, which groups like this actually exist, is doing is disgusting and that it should be stopped. the movie doesn't not attempt to sexualize these girls but instead draws attention to the fact that it is happening in real life and people are ignoring it. the movie itself is not pedophile content. the only thing pedophile about it is all of the people who have never watched it, reading articles and headlines about it being pedophilic.
@The Big Hodge, “we made this movie with child porn as an awareness campaign about the dangers of child porn I swear!”
@Richard Cypher, yeah I mean there isn't child porn in it so yeah. tbh I don't like the movie and I think there are problems with it. my thing is that people will believe and say that something is one way without even watching it or bothering to find out. the same people that claim fake news whenever something comes out against the political right will believe anything the political right has to say without even trying to look into it
@ThePandaPool , yeah I'm pretty sure this was a thing started by a reddit troll thread or smthn
@The Big Hodge, you should take the word "right" out of that last comment, and just leave it as political, and you have a very true statement.
@The Big Hodge, Don’t be one of the people who feels obligated to defend that movie, whether you like the movie or not, it puts you in the cringey camp. I promise it’s not a “right-wing” hysteria thing, I know avowed socialists who thought that movie was filth and should be taken down. You don’t have to watch the movie to know the “artists” that made it should have gone a different route. If they are “artists” they should be capable of making a gut-wrenching film about the sexual exploitation of children WITHOUT sexually exploiting children in the process.
As much as “alternative media” is firing conservatives up about the movie, mainstream media is trying to fire liberals up to defend it. And yes, there is child porn in it. There may be no child nudity, but there’s definitely softcore child porn. It’s gross, don’t defend it anymore, pick a different hill to die on.
@ThePandaPool , Anytime you see somebody trying to lump pedophilia in with being gay, that's what's going on.
@The Big Hodge, Cuties is hardly a commentary on the sexualization of children. There is nothing in the film that would give you the impression. It's like making a movie about how killing puppies is bad.. You don't need to ACTUALLY kill puppies to make that point. Just as you don't have to sexualize children to make that point. These girls were sexualized for no other reason than to be sexualized, full stop. I honestly feel bad for those girls and the psychological effects this movie will have on them later in life.
@The Big Hodge, Marrying a 10 year old isn't allowed, but they did just pass a bill where if the child is 13 or more, and the adult is within 10 years of them, the judge has the discretion to put then on the sex offender list or not. So a 23 year old could have set with a 13 year old and never go on a registry.
I know everyone hates "slippery slope" arguments, but just think about it: 10 years ago conservatives were arguing against gay marriage saying it's a slippery slope. Now there are an infinite number of genders and pedophilia laws are getting lessened.
@Captain Magma, I mean that's not what the law did either. what you described was already the law in half of the US including but not limited to Texas, Arizona, Alabama, as well as California, Connecticut, and New Jersey. What you described is something that has been around for awhile and is bipartisan. the change to the law was that "romeo and juliet" applies to anal and oral sex between same sex partners in the same way it applies to vaginal sex for opposite sex partners. before the change an 18 yo male who had anal with a 17 yo male would automatically have to register as a sex offender however a 24 yo male who had regular sex with a 14 to girl did not have to automatically register
@The Big Hodge, I'm amazed as to how many people have an opinion on that law have no idea whatsoever what it actually is. To be fair though, I've seen a lot of opinion "news" articles that outright lie about the content of the law.
@ThePandaPool , it's really true! I am absolutely for punishing pedophiles to the full extent and I certainly do not want laws or content to make pedophilia acceptable but I think a lot of people are too quick to believe that stuff that they find on the internet without actually looking into it
@The Big Hodge, so what you’re saying is, we have laws that allow 24 year old men to have sex with 14 year old girls and instead of fixing those laws we want to be fair and let 24 year old men also have sex with 14 year old boys? Great! 👌
