Those are the future lawyers
@Dephenistrator, I was that kid. I’m now a lawyer. So nailed it!
@Princess711, me too! :]
What do you practice in?
@Honaw Fierceclaw, Lawyer buddies! I’m in worker’s compensation, defense. You?
*virtually high fives*
I'm in business formationland transactions, securities, and patents :]
I work in Southern California
Do you like worker's comp defense?
@Honaw Fierceclaw, I’m north of you in the bay area. I’m enjoying it so far. A little less than a month in so trying to learn as much as I can quickly. Do you do patent prosecutions or are you transactional?
@Princess711, very cool! And congratulations on passing the bar!
I am a year and one month into practicing :]
Good luck with the learning!
(there is always more isn't there? X] )
My boss does patent prosecution and I am learning. Which is super facinating!
@Honaw Fierceclaw, thank it was a difficult one! Do you work on a lot of start ups or mostly outside counsel for corporations?
@Princess711, most of our business is patent work for bigger companies
We often help smaller companies when we help an inventor patent an idea. Then we help them form a business and possibly sell shares to use that patent
Big project right now is a Regulation A+ filing with the SEC for a real estate investing company. That is really cool :]
What about you? Mostly small or large companies?
@Honaw Fierceclaw, We do a mix but we typically work for the insurance companies which are larger. We work with both self insured and third party insured businesses. Helping small companies must be cool. I like to see stuff start from the beginning and get all the way completed.
Me in math class whenever I would get points off for now showing my work. About halfway through he stopped taking points off because I finally convinced him that my brain doesn't work that way, but by senior year I finally figured out why he wanted me to show the work. Worst part was it was the same damn teacher, who was also my wrestling coach.
@Not him again, a sports coach who isn't an angry history teacher? School really has changed
@Donald Drumpf, I graduated in 05, so I have no idea what school is like now. He was actually a cool guy, he just rode us hard in class and in practice, and it was 10 times worse if you were in both lol. His name is Steve Beiser. I believe he is currently head baseball coach at Mizzou now, but I had him at Vianney high school for all 4 years.
@Not him again, Donald Drumpf’s joke comes from the fact that in public schools nowadays most history/social studies teachers are sports coaches because teaching is the easiest way to get a coaching position and those subjects are usually the easiest to teach for someone who doesn’t really give a shjt about teaching
@TriangleTesticles, ah. Well I wasnt being pissy or anything, I just think it's a pretty cool story lol. But yeah I went to private (all male to boot) school, so most of the coaches were big time ball busters to their players
There's always one
I argue regularly, not because I disagree with their judgement but because they don’t tally up my marks correctly like 40% of the time and give me less marks than I actually got.
I don’t really have one of those kids this year, my students usually get high test scores for the most part, but I can’t tell if it’s because I’m a good teacher or if my test are just really easy
@Captain Cornleon, go with good teacher :]
Thanks for being a teacher! It can be a rather thankless job sometimes
