Warning: Imminent Butthurt. Before harshly commenting on this picture, please keep in mind dang near ALL fantasy traces back to Tolkien. Even D&D, Even Warhammer, Even WoW.
@Gestalt BumWizard, Somebody ....... On the Internet....... Knows Warhammer?!
@Gestalt BumWizard, also it's a joke and people need to stop getting butthurt over a joke...it's kinda pathetic
@Gestalt BumWizard, and I think Tolkien came first
@ClassySassyBitch, I bloody love warhammer and spent a huge deal of my early childhood painting those little guys.
@Gestalt BumWizard, yeah but he had most of his ideas from history, myth, his childhood, etc. I could go on. So if he didnt do it, it was going to happen, just not the exact same. Even he doesnt like to take credit for playing one major role since he understands the orgins of stories.
@Gestalt BumWizard, As a great man once said, I reject your reality and substitute my own.
@Gestalt BumWizard, actually there are tons of LotR references in WoW. Not to mention that elves, dwarves, gnomes (hobbits), and men, are vs trolls orcs, undead, and goblins.
@ClassySassyBitch, purge the heretic
@Niam Leeson, there were undead in lotr? You mean like the ring wraiths?
@Magickarp, and ghosts
@GGO Deathgun, so that's why I was born...
Sam is not a loser Sam's the real hero of the story!
What did you call dobby??! Did you even know he's a free elf?!

Meh, a few relatable characters, doesn't make these that similar. Carry on.
Uhh. Don't you men fvking ugly 'Kreacher'?
@Matchbox Cars, I'm pretty sure they were referring to Dobby, considering Kreacher wasn't on the same level of side character that Dobby and the "My Precious" dude were on
@BunnyGruff, How dare you compare smeagol and dobby.
@Xanyok, but.. thats what this pic is doing... Dobby was more important to the Harry Potter story line than Kreacher was, so they were probably refering to Dobby
@Xanyok, Yes what meowarina said, also you didn't like Dobby??? as much as Smeagol?
Link btmeen good & evil? Please say I wasn't the only one that got confused on that.
Upvote for harry potter
Fun fact: Sir Ian McKellen was originally asked to play Dumbledore, but he turned it down because he had already played Gandalf. That would have definitely solidified the link betwen the two.
@phoenixtalon, also Sean Connery was the one that was originally offered the role of Gandalf but he turned it down.
There's a comic out there called PvP (Player versus Player). It involves a bunch of people (and a troll) who work in an office. In one storyline, they found their old D&D stuff and taught this young intern how to play. Afterwards they gave him a copy of Lord of the Rings. He came back complaining that "This Tolkien guy is a total hack! He ripped off everything from the game! Dwarves, elves, halflings, and orcs!" One of the others says with a grin, "Yeah, Wizards of the Coast should totally sue his a$$!"
What about hermoine?
Did they just call Ron a loser?!
We thinks we can upload pics now?
Yes, yeah, very different backstories, they ARE creepy lackeys, VERY different stories, yup, yup, 1 movie vs entire series, eeehh it's close, sentient predator vs animalistic carnivore, actually dark and dangerous vs unknown that later helps out, hell no wtf, from actual villain vs from lackey of villain, useless vs badass, tall vs short Sorry not sorry for the long comment
Well, I'm off to write my own story. I'll see you guys when I'm famous.
My point exactly, Harry Potter is a stupid copy of Lotr.
@LORD OF THE RINGS, you dont seem bias at all.
@LORD OF THE RINGS, actually, they're both rooted in biblical lore. Hence the similarity. They're both copies. Yay!
@Jedi Shepard, and narnia
@The Sandlot, indeed. I sense a power from the force. It is telling me you are either very intuitive or that you took a certain class in college. (And intuitive. !
@The Sandlot, I love it when my phone enters before I mean to. That last exclamation point is supposed to be a parenthesis.
@Jedi Shepard, just intuitive I guess 😊
@The Sandlot, oh, wow, I'm impressed. I was referring to a course called "religion in fiction" but most colleges refer to it as "the Harry Potter class." I suggest it if you're ever offered it.
@Jedi Shepard, I'm gonna be a junior in high school, so I got a couple years
@The Sandlot, just something to keep in mind then.
Except the fact that the HP books are my childhood and are amazing and I have so much nostalgia for and I love and this is a run on sentence and I don't care and my point is that HP is great and 50 times better than LOTR
These things are common archetypes in fantasy novels
This is so true
Samwise was certainly not a loser.
These characters have completely different backgrounds with just one similarity. You shouldn't be comparing them.

In the end, all snake men have pale skin and long black hair
