@PunnyBaker, same at first
Actually some dogs show their teeth when they are really happy or excited. And yes it will absolutely throw you off if you don’t know they do that.
Example: I was taking care of a pit mix and white German Shepard named ghost. The pit didn’t want to go inside so I went to his outdoor run, picked him up and put him inside. To which his buddy ghost stuck his head out teeth bared and then proceeded to bury his head in my chest and ask for pets. For a min there I thought shjt was about to get real but he just does that when he’s happy
@Natural Sarcasm , ah! Out of fear you played it cool and petted him. Used to have a friend that had a Dalmatian. She loooved butt scratches, and would show her teeth when you did. If it wasn’t by her body movements I swear that dog was about to take my hand with her. She would come up, lean on you at times, look back and show her teeth... honestly felt like I was bullied into it. Can’t say I was a fan... very untrustworthy dog. Upvotes for Azul’s cousin
@seeUpee, nah I’m pretty much never afraid of dogs. If you don’t wanna get bit then you don’t show fear. I’ve dealt with plenty of aggressive dogs from chihuahuas to Great Danes and have yet to find a dog I couldn’t handle. We even have a dog in kennel right now that snaps at everyone but me so I’m the one that has to care for him. He loves me and it’s kinda funny, he’ll go from full aggression snapping at the gate to completely calm and happy the moment I walk in the room, regardless of whether the person he was just snapping at has left lol
@Natural Sarcasm , you have the gift man! Dog just like you... some people are that way... you should use that on your boss... maybe ask for more pay ahahahah. I never been scared of a dog but I have had a few times I would never put myself in a position that anything could happen. Have I told you about the time two Winnie dogs latch on my dads toes and my dad took off running? Funniest shjt I ever seen
@seeUpee, lol nah I don’t think you’ve told me that one. Winnie dogs can be little bastards lol
@Natural Sarcasm , oh man... was summer 2014, one of my brothers was around from college and my dad always makes us work...so we did a siding/painting job for a doctor who had two Winnie dogs. Cookie and Oreo, mother and son. Friendliest nicest winnies ever! So my brother and I were setting up the scaffolding and my dad unloading equipment. Well, we see him go around the corner and just takes off running with each dog latched on each toe screaming “hijos de mil putaaaaa” as he runs downhill, trips and starts doing cartwheels with the dogs. The mother lets go and after a while the son did too. Both my brother and I just crying of laughter that we didn’t even care where my dad ran away to. After a while he came back. Luckily they didn’t bite thru his work boots and was fine. The entire week there the boy Oreo would just growl at my dad but loved on my brother and me. We still bring this up with my brother from time to time... no idea what pissed off Cookie and Oreo till this day.
@seeUpee, hahahahaha that’s awesome, yeah man anything can set off a weenie dog.
I got a story for you the growling reminded me of. We bordered one dog, pit mix, who was full blown racist. There was a black guy that worked with us in the back and this dog did not like him at all. Like this dude was the kinda guy where you could ask him to do anything around the kennel and he would no question no complaints, but we asked him to move this dog and he was “nope she’s tried to bite me five times” and we all laughed cause she’s super friendly with us. Sure enough I go back there and I’m petting her through the gate and this dude walks back and she growls at him the whole time she sees him and as soon as he was outta sight she leaned up against the gate looking for more pets lol I was like you racist motherfvcker. I messed with that dude about it for the rest of her stay
@Natural Sarcasm , bahahaha dude! Five times is too many times I would give a dog the chances to. My folks Rottie is like that! We have no idea who she used to belong to as she jumped in my dads truck one night and after putting found dog signs no one claimed her.My mom fell in love with her thus how she became a member of our family. But she just haaaates black people. At the park she will low level growl until you pet her and tell her is okay. We think her other owner used to maybe beat her... I don’t know and couldn’t tell you why she is racist like that. She was still a puppy when I first took her to the park and noticed it
@seeUpee, honestly it’s probably has to do with scent. Some races just smell different from others. As a man who has dated all kinds of woman I can confirm this as well. And with dogs having super sniffers it probably just makes them uncomfortable unless they’re exposed to it regularly.
Also she might growl now since you pet her while she was growling. It’s a common mistake, you’re trying to comfort the dog but in reality by petting the dog you’re unintentionally reinforcing the behavior by rewarding it
@Natural Sarcasm , I will be honest... when you said “as a man who has dated all kinds of women” I busted out laughing. Like dunno why, didn’t do out of meanness... just everything we have been making fun of each other with made me laugh.
You are probably right. I never thought about it like that. She is very protective of us and an awesome guard dog. Most of the time I shush her but the majority of the time I do pet her to calm her down...which she does for the reminder of the time, even if she see other people
She is such a beast, she has taken care of all my dads pests... Has killed two groundhogs, a skunk and countless squirrels. Her personality is unmatched... leaves Oliverio in the dust! Extremely vocal when she wants attention she like talks to us, if any of my siblings or even myself get rowdy she comes and calms us down, is hilarious... Best dog we have ever had thus far... just that racist thing is her only flaw... maybe the shedding too... she has a double coat and is thick

@Natural Sarcasm , I had a doberman that would show her teeth when she was happy/excited, I think she picked it up from us because she was really good at making you smile and you could tell it made her happy to get a smile out of someone. I'm gonna go cry now lmao
@Natural Sarcasm , I have two large German Shepherds myself. If either one did that i would shiite myself immediately. They are both well over 60lbs. Which makes no sense because they are the sweetest doggos you ever saw ❤ 100/10 would rescue again.
@LaDarkProphet, yeah it takes some getting used to but hardly anything surprises me with dogs now, especially working at a boarding facility. Just the other day I was wrestling with a 120lbs Great Pyrenees who likes to play bite and I’ve dealt with fear aggressive 140lbs Great Danes so even though 60-80lbs aren’t small but they easier to deal with now that I’ve dealt with dogs that size lol luckily for me the VAST majority of dogs with attitude problems are little dogs
Oh you think you got it better outside eh???
