see its funny because the actress says she can but cannonicly Capt. Marvel can't
@FunnyPicsHoldGuard, there is nothing in the canon to say she can't, only that she doesn't.
@crazylampshademan, in my opinion until Capt Marvel in the movie cannon (on screen) picks up thors hammer or axe she cant
@FunnyPicsHoldGuard, that's illogical. I've never coddled an egg, but that doesn't mean I can't.
@FunnyPicsHoldGuard, pretty sure anyone can pick up stormbreaker, but I'm with you. She cant pick up the hammer.
@crazylampshademan, but the actress saying Capt Marvel can doesnt make it cannon thats like if I said black widow and peter parker had sex it could have happened but it didnt and won't
@ThePandaPool , I just thought that stormbreaker was the same as the hammer (I know its name but cant spell it) and if you can lift one then you can lift both but I may have been worng
@FunnyPicsHoldGuard, there is an enchantment put on the hammer by Odin that stops the unworthy from picking it up, there isnt one on the axe.
@ThePandaPool , see thats where I got confused I forgot the enchantment was made by Odin and thought it was just because of the mineral they were both made of
@FunnyPicsHoldGuard, I had to look up that Larson said that. I wasn't aware of the quote. In reaction, I'd first like to say that I don't care what the actors have to say about the characters. They usually aren't super in tune with the source material. I'm not saying that CM can canonically lift Mjolnir. She hasn't ever done it in any form of Marvel media. I'm am explicitly stating that there isn't any reason that she couldn't in the future. Demanding that she can't because you don't like the character or the actor playing them is dumb. You need a reason. If I were to say for instance, that Hawkeye can't lift Mjolnir, people might argue, but there is good reason in the MCU, being that he murdered a whole bunch of people in anger. I may not be correct, but my claim has validity in its evidence. There is no valid evidence to prove one way or another if CM could lift Mjolnir. Never having done it before and Brie being a loud mouth does not constitute evidence.
@crazylampshademan, see I'm not saying she cant because I dont like CM or Brie I actually like them both im saying she cant because the creators havent said she can
@FunnyPicsHoldGuard, did they say she can't?
@crazylampshademan, no but they haven't said she can so Schordingers hammer
@crazylampshademan, Captain Marvel showed no real remorse after learning she actively took part in genocide, she robbed (and in the extended scene assaulted) a man for telling her to smile, Tony learned that his weapons were being sold to terrorists and became iron man to make up for that and fix what he was partly responsible for and he could still not lift it, Thor let his anger get the better of him when he attacked the frost giants and he became unworthy. Captain marvel is a world away from being worthy.
@codyl, I appreciate your thought out answer. Much better than, "because no one said she could."
@FunnyPicsHoldGuard, I think you've missed my whole point.
Brie, shut the fvck up
You know what kind of stops you from being worthy? Assaulting and robbing people you don’t like.
Captain Marvel is a villain, and I can’t wait to see her get killed by Rogue once Disney finally acquires the X-Men licence.
@I Are Lebo, It's funny that the killer robot who initiated the whole stealing a motorcycle scene came across as more human than Brie Larson ripping it off
@Yourself, I find the comparison ironic considering the Terminator was the villain.
Seriously, the defence of her doing it is “it’s okay when we do it” to the brutes they label with toxic masculinity.
Can we please just stop bitching about Captain Marvel? Let the female Marvel fans have a character they can look up to and admire. There’s enough hate in the world already.
Thor can lift it because it's his toy. Hela could lift it because she was more powerful than it. Vision and the elevator can lift it because they are artificially created, which has validity in the canon if you look up Awesome Andy. Why would Captain Marvel ever think to pick up Mjolnir anyway? It's not like she needed it.
@crazylampshademan, maybe, maybe she doesn’t need it. However, if she could (though I highly doubt that’s ever going to happen because she’s not a hero at heart. She just does it for the recognition she gets out of it) it’ll augment her powers making her a lot more powerful. Hell, that’s why Thanos sent The Black Order to search the universe for Ultimate Möjlnir and why The Collector stole a chunk of Asgard to have it in possession so he can find a way to lift it (both characters that are stronger than Captain Marvel btw) and they were killing each other to get it before Thor could in ‘Unworthy Thor’
@iAMtheLegueOfShadows, see, here we go. Some actually discussion about lore. "She just does it for recognition..." Is that based on the MCU version or the comic book version? I'm not a huge fan of the character so I don't know much about the comic representation.
I think the worthy bit of the hammer doesn't really matter that much. I think Thor specifically says in the crossover universe when superman uses Mjolnir and Cap's shield that Odin can curve and adapt the enchantment on Mjolnir to give the god guys a break once and a while. I think by that being said, you could guess that if CM, Mjolnir, and some apocalyptic force were in a room, CM could probably use Mjolnir if she had to
I feel like hela caught it more so than held it and dont think that fully counts
She meant it as a joke
@SpankieMcGee , Did she though? I wouldn't put something like that past her.
