Contrary to popular belief, metal items without edges is actually OK to microwave. For example, a spoon is fine. A fork is not. When the magnetron in the Microwave bombards a fork with energy oscillating at 2.5GHz, the fork absorbs all that energy causing electrons to build up in it. Because the fork has spikes, this energy is greatly concentrated in the spikes. Bombard the fork with even more ionizing radiation, it will be enough to free the built up electrons and cause the spark. Round items, or items with no sharp edges, the electrons is distributed evenly on the metal, so no spark.
Ionizing radiation energy generated by the magnetron was meant to cause molecules in liquids and foods to vibrate at 2.5GHz very violently. With all the vibrating molecules hitting each other causes the heat that heats your food. Metal items have tightly packed molecules so it reacts different compared to organic liquid based items.
Other perfectly safe items for the microwave are car airbags.
@Diabolik, so I thought this was complete BS but I gave it a goog anyway. So although the theory is correct the fact of the matter is that it depends on the spoon. If the spoon has a hard bend or a deep spoon(?) part, then it can arc and ignite any oils or flammable substances in the microwave. As well a spoon should only be put in a microwave it is insulated by food or drink.
@Drunk Pantless Uncle, hehe my entire life revolves around google. Without google, I’m just as fun as a stick. Not even a long one. Like a twig. Or the twigs that fall off of twigs. That would be me if google never existed
@Diabolik, anyone that tests this airbag theory, please upload the video
@MetalHeadTony, you are correct; hard bends cause arcs. Spoons in a beverage even more reduces the chance of sparking. Actually metal shouldn’t be placed in microwaves, but if a spoon is mistakenly in there it shouldn’t cause issues.
Now, car airbags and iPhones to charge is a definite no no. Go on YouTube and look for those dudes that actually microwaved an airbag. The dude was super close to dying from an object or shrapnel flown in his general direction.
@Diabolik, Honestly, I’m surprised you didn’t mention that Epstein didn’t kill himself
@Diabolik, ok but maybe just don’t put a fvcking spoon in the microwave
@kyleywyote, I'm pretty sure I've actually seen a video on that I don't remember if it was slow mo guys or possibly king of random but I'm pretty sure I've already seen the video and it's extremely violent
@Diabolik, you just made me start a fire at my house
Friendly reminder not to believe everything you read on the internet
@kyleywyote, And to always pay attention in science class
@kyleywyote, I don’t believe you...
@Bionicbonk, now you're getting it!
I just tried this and you definitely DON’T want to do it. Instead of making the penny smaller it made it turn silver and triple in size. Who the hell wants a cool silver penny that’s 3x bigger than a normal penny?!
It only shrinks if the door is left open.
Sorry to burst your bubble dude but no one made you put that penny in the mic. You started your house fire on your own.
Stupid is what stupid does.
