Ok seriously people need to actually grow a pair and stop being sensitive little children, the goal isn't to just show you the horrors of war for entertainment, its taught to 1) remember and honor those who fought and lost their lives fighting for a good cause and to remember those who had to suffer and 2) try to prevent history from repeating itself. Sorry for the long post but humaninty is just getting ridiculous
@President Jar Jar , those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it
@President Jar Jar , humanity is fine. You're only ever going to hear about the negative stuff, and that stuff makes up such a small, small percentage of the stuff that happens day to day
@President Jar Jar , I have a counter argument that I don't exactly believe but think about alot. By learning about bad stuff people emulate it. I wasn't picked on for being Jewish in school until we learned of the Holocaust but when we did I was bullied alot. I wonder if by learning history we repeatit because we know it. Would we have more interesting Architecture if we didn't look at Rome. Would black and white skin simply be a science issue if we didn't learn of slavery? Would we think America is so great if we didn't selectively remember our good bits?
History clearly repeats. That may be because we repeat it to every generation.
@KingofFunnypics, oddly enough I experienced the exact same thing for being German, family background and history up till that point wasn't even thought of, then WWII in history class and everybody's calling me Nazi for being German.
Despite that, it's absolutely necessary to teach this part of history in school, because it was essentially the world vs organized fascism. Even if the world went to shjt and violence became commonplace, the color of one's skin, who one chooses to love, Or the faith one chooses to follow should never be cause for bloodshed
@ Tobias Widower, but if people never knew that racism existed and were always taught equality, we might never need to provide examples of what not to do.
This is kinda like the book "the Giver"....
@President Jar Jar , we are kind of living in a post satire society. My jokes about authoritarianism are reality in China. George Orwell’s book 1984 is becoming the norm. Big China is monetizing.
@SkizleDNizleS, bad news=good ratings. That means more revenue from advertising. I saw a bit from CNN talking about the negatives with prescription drugs only to cut to a commercial for a prescription drug. Coincidence or not, very tragically hilarious.
@SirLordKraftDinner, yep. Nobody is going to report on the billions and billions of people having a normal day. So of course something like this is going to catch a headline (as undeserving as it is). The doomsday reactionaries need to chill
@President Jar Jar , 18-20 year olds back then stormed beaches, 18-20 year olds now need a safe place to cry because someone hurt their feelings
@KingofFunnypics, no if we didn’t teach it, it would be worse after all racism and antisemitism existed far before hitler and slavery children are just asshats
@President Jar Jar , okay boomer
@KingofFunnypics, you may convolute history and story. History shouldnt be aggrivating but preventing. It is normal that you do not know any prejudice of different ethnics or religion when you are still young but start to learn or rather hear them from people around you, family members, television, or especially from the internet. What said story does not tell you however is not its origin and most often is a rather biased view related to society it comes from. History shouldnt be telling you only about the event from one side but about it all. Giving you insight in the very construct of society and its origins, bringing you forth to discuss but not about the rightgousness of any acts but about thinking. It should temptate you to critical thinking, to let you interpret words or text or speeches of allied or inhospital nations or humans. Prevention of history repeating itself by thinking the way you learned and discussed in class.
@President Jar Jar , u call that a long post? Preach on brother
@SkizleDNizleS, that’s y I never watch the news nothing but horror stories I get it the world is a fücked up place at times but they never show any of the good things that happen
@downunderdoctor, the whole idea of “safe spaces” in college is just absolutely ridiculous what is this kindergarten now in fact I don’t think they even had that in kindergartens at least not while I was there
@SkizleDNizleS, solid perspective
@KingofFunnypics, because racism still exists. These things didnt magically disappear after ww2, america actually brought over a lot of nazi scientists to use. If they arent taught in school they'll just be exposed to them later and probably not from a teacher who explains the pitfalls and dangers of this way of thinking.
Just looking at that kid is bad for my mental health.
You're a shameful cuck
Looks like somebody failed their history test and is too entitled to accept the D. ;)
@LloydChristmas2, from his crying face and his haircut and what seems to be makeup, he is probably fine with taking the D. He? She? Not totally convinced. Either way a whiny little bjtch that the human race would have probably been better off without.
@MI5, idk who came up with that term snowflake but I love it
What a pussy.
I think his poor haircut is bad for mental health...
Who’s using the family brain cell today?
This is just a guess, but I feel like the people who fought might have had it worse.
Well if an instagrammar said it, it must be true
~I wish to slap this pillock~
Pretty sure WWII was bad for a lot of people's health
U know what life is bad for your mental health so let’s all just stop living
