Or, overburdensome taxes combined with ridiculous regulations. Just sayin
@big freedom, how about a flat tax. Nothing more fair then that
@voided sanity, yes please!
@voided sanity, But like, super flat. Like zero...
@A Deformed Penis, I'm not for big gov but I'd like more state tax less federal. less likely the money will be wasted and easier to vote out abusers
@voided sanity, except a flat tax unquestionably favors the wealthy
@Breast Day Ever, by that logic the person that works more hours is unquestionably more favored regardless of context.
@Breast Day Ever, except there are many questions. And the tax system should not favor one group or punish another group.
Taxes are a requirement to fund the ESSENTIAL services of the government. Not a way to engineer a utopian society.
@big freedom, government is meant to be a referee And enforce the rules we all agree on. It's our duty and right to live. Be free. And pursue happiness. Not the state
@big freedom, NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION!
@voided sanity, yeah flat taxes are absolutely not fair, it’s called a regressive tax for a reason. Losing say 20% of a 1k monthly paycheck is absolutely devastating, whereas losing the same percentage of at 10k monthly paycheck would not inhibit your ability to live. It seems fair in concept but in practice it isn’t. Though in the case of road tolls it has more basis, as each usage is taxed rather than merely being taxed on income. There is a reason income is taxed progressively in pretty much every stable and successful country in the world.
@Spetsnaz , ahh yes. Let’s use made up terms all with a biased leftist origin.
Instead let’s use a tax system which is designed by the rich, for the rich to keep themselves and their whores... sorry “elected officials” in power.
@big freedom, imma let you know dude, progressive and regressive taxes are like dictionary definitions, and aren’t partisan language at all. I’m not even gonna address the rest of what you said.
@Spetsnaz , that doesn’t address the origin. And yes they are partisan. Thanks for playing.
@big freedom, maybe you should read the Wikipedia article on regressive taxes and not some brietbart article on it dawg. It’s literally comes from the definition of regress, and has no political context. Same with progressive, it has nothing to do with progressive politics. But I’m sure I won’t get you to look outside your little bubble of indoctrination. I’m not even arguing politics but etymology.
@Spetsnaz , ffs dawg. It didn’t originate on its own. The left began using the term “regressive tax” to slant the conversation in a certain direction. Of course it has evolved since then. Similar to “trickle down economics” and “capitalist”.
Are you really this ignorant, or just trolling.
@big freedom, actually you’re right about one thing it didn’t originate on its own, progressive and regressive both have definitions in statistics which is where the terms are taken from. These terms have been used for centuries, since before the United States was even a country, and were used by enlightenment thinkers in the early 18th century, the movement that inspired your own countries “founding fathers”. This was before there was any perceptible “left” or “right” comparable to the political landscape we have today. You stated this wasn’t the origin of these words, it is. How these words have been used since then is up to society, but their definitions are clear. So stop getting upset that the correct definitions of ideas you subscribe to make them sound bad. Perhaps it is because they are bad ideas that have been abandoned by just about every country. In honesty, you are as annoyingly spouting Fox News talking points as the liberals you despise spout MSNBC talking points.
@Spetsnaz , lmfao. I spout Fox News!? Lol. I never watch Fox. Nice logical fallacy - guilty by association. Or as the Simpson’s said, just because something happens on FOX news, doesn’t make it untrue.
I appreciate you actually taking a minute to look into the origin. Yes, the term as it’s used originated the same way that “capitalism” and “trickle down economics” started.
@big freedom, yeah man I’m the one spouting fallacies, when you think dictionary definition words from centuries ago are made up terms invented be “leftists”, and you also think somehow a progressive tax system is made by the rich, when in practice countries run by oligarchies of the wealthy try to put flat taxes in place as it takes less of their income, and allows them to better control elected officials. You are so indoctrinated it’s honestly hilarious. Have a nice day dude, but you clearly don’t even understand the math of how taxes work.
@Spetsnaz , you have knowledge but no wisdom. Do a tiny bit of research and find out about the thousands of pages and specific tax law written BY THE RICH, for THEMSELVES.
Or don’t. Why am I arguing with you? Once again I’m reminded: it’s hard to win an argument against a smart person, it’s impossible to win against a stupid person.
Gonna say it taxes needs to be raised especially on the wealthy the country cannot afford to run itself but let’s be real that’s never gonna happen
@eleven, lmao. You people crack me up.
@big freedom, funny I could say the same thing about you
@eleven, you certainly could. One of us has history, knowledge, logic and wisdom on their side and the other has emotion.
@eleven, watch the “fat” documentary on Amazon. Then come back and let’s talk more about putting the government in charge.
@big freedom, I love when someone disagrees with you people it’s because of EmOtIoN.
@sgtpepper47, yes. That’s exactly what I said.
Actually I love when people disagree with me and use logic to point out if I’m wrong or misunderstand something. That way I can adjust and learn. It’s awesome to be able to do that.
@sgtpepper47, my comment to eleven is for you as well. Watch that documentary and let’s chat.
@big freedom, no offense but I fail to see what a documentary about myths about weight loss and the like has to do with anything
@eleven, it gets into allowing the government to dictate terms and guidelines.
When you say “tax the rich” what you mean is give more control to the government, which is controlled by the rich.
You want to make a real change? Make the government so small that they’re not worth bribing and the rich no longer have any power.
@big freedom, we tried that already does the term Articles of Confederation ring a bell if the govt is small and weak then there’s no enforcement of laws on the national level and thus backwards policies take hold once again also when I say tax the rich I mean tax the rich who do nothing but horde their money like a dragon in a cave metaphors are bs and I already know about that that fat free stuff is often worse for you because of the sugar they put in it to make it taste like something and sugar people in the 50s made sure with govt bribery that this was covered up but you know what would be nice if the govt regulated the medical industry so that medicine didn’t cost the literal arm and leg you’re trying to fix
@eleven, ahh yes the government that governs best governs most... oh wait, that’s the opposite of what is true.
@big freedom, a government that governs the least might as well not even be there
@eleven, Your indoctrination is complete I see.
@big freedom, Touché
@big freedom, says the big tin foil had wearer himself.
@sgtpepper47, lmao. Good one! Hey, how’s your unicorn feeling these days? I know the unrest in China has the utopians a little off lately.
@sgtpepper47, I love that I’m the tin hat wearer because I have a healthy disdain for, and desire to keep government under control. But you, who believes that the government is a good solution to problems, are the enlightened one.
Xi Jinping is anti taxation? Learn something new everyday.
@LightskinDarkNig, lol. Took me a minute.
Taxation without representation*
That's not honey Pooh that's libertarian dogma!
Pooh: You are fake news piglet.
“Democracy” would also be an acceptable answer
