Rumor has it. This is how Laura Croft from Tomb Raider was made the main character. (For those old enough to remember the first games release). The developers got tired of looking at a guys butt.
@Seohn, also her giant triangular titties were a mistake they just left in. Someone accidently set the value too high or something and they just went with it.
I mean, I never knew why growing up... But now as a male to female transgender adult, I totally understand why I picked all the female chars...
@JacieTwisted, I always choose the none human characters such as Yoshi for Mario Party, Dry Bones for Mario Kart, and Kurby for Smash.
I should have realized I was a furry earlier....
My favorite concept was actually from my grandfather. When I was playing destiny my grandparents came over for a visit and when they saw I was using a female guardian my grandmother asked "Why are you playing as a woman?" So I replied, "my nieces helped design her, they wanted to feel like they were playing too" she looked at me funny. A few seconds after I took some damage and she made the damage scream, my grandfather immediately looked over and said "Well as a normal male, he likes to hear when women scream and moan" he gave me a high five and my grandmother simply replied "Dumba$$".
I still prefer to play as a guy character so I’m not distracted by an attractive girl. That and it doesn’t feel as immersive if it’s something like fallout and I want to feel like I’m in the game
@Silver6456, I'm with you on the immersion bit. Plus I'm almost never looking at my character, I'm looking at the environment.
All true I used to play a racing game where you could be on a bike and could choose the gender of the rider, its no fun looking at a guys ass
If it's a multiplayer shooter, female players almost always have a smaller body so it is a little harder to spot them and they may even have a smaller hitbox.
I play differently depending on whether the character is male or female, at least in Skyrim. Female characters are sneaky assassins and my male characters basically kick in doors holding a massive sword. Both a fun to play as but admittedly I’m far more successful playing my female characters.
I played a female dwarf in WoW for that very reason: Short and thicc . . The ability to Riverdance was a bonus.
Chose male my first skyrim run... have chosen female ever since
