@Genesis Rhapsodos , ahh yes, the "nice guy" I worked with who thought that telling off a rude customer meant that I should automatically be his gf and go steady with him and then proceeded to be even more pissed at me than the customer when I turned him down. After which he said I owed him for saving me. Dude, it was a disgruntled 70 year old woman who wanted a discount for block cheese that we didn't offer any longer and she actually understood when I explained it to her! You just had to come in and make it seem like you were saving the day. Anyway, I couldn't believe him and still can't to this day.

@ TouchMyCatEars, It’s all about the expectations. If they seem to be expecting a reward for being nice or polite or helpful chances are they’re of the “nice guy” variety while those who just do it and be on their way are typically more genuinely nice. In my experience this rule applies to women as well.
