The French actually invented true modernized gunpowder. What the Chinese invented was a lot closer to what we use for fire works currently. The French weapons master devoted like 70 or 80% of the areas resources to making ammonia and breaking charcoal by burning trees. Thus he made modern era gun powder. He did this because the english's strategy for claiming French lands at the time was to move slowly into French lands and build castles and then rinse and repeat. He made it so that castle sieges went from taking months or years down to only taking a few days. The first canons ever used brought the castle siege to a close in only 4 days.
@HELLUVA ENGINEER, yeah, they mostly just found the basic formula for gunpowder. And the Great Wall when it comes to defense was historically kinda doodoo if I remember correctly. And while martial arts was great and all, literally every culture that was around for a few hundred years had some form of armed and unarmed martial arts, even if they didn’t use that name
@Siska the Khajiit, the wall worked as intended for defense. It’s a force multiplier. It slows the enemy enough to allow troops to respond and mount a defense.
@HELLUVA ENGINEER, I was waiting for Epstein but was pleasantly surprised. Have an upvote please
@big freedom, yeah but it was finished right around the time that TNT was invented so that wall is kind of null and void as a defense mechanism.
@HELLUVA ENGINEER, disagree. It still acts as intended. It slows them down. It isn’t supposed to be the last line and only thing in defense. Force multiplier.
in the words of randy marsh "FVCK CHINA"
I’m not really sure how to feel about this. On the one hand, it’s putting down the terrifying regime rather than being afraid of it. On the other hand, those fückers are running legitimate concentration camps right now.
I mean, what the fück? Didn’t we all say Never Again? That didn’t last long. Didn’t even make it one century.
The good ol US of A ain't much better. We went from pillaging, raping, claiming every square inch of land for ourselves, fighting enemies on foreign shores, bombing the hell out of anyone and everyone who crossed us to "I need a safe space and a puppy so I can cry about the presidential election!"
They are scared to lose control of their people
If China keeps allowing their people to grow economically, eventually the people will want more than money. They’ll also want freedom. Then comes the Yellow Turban Army 2: Electric Boogaloo.
