While the number of overweight americans is much higher than most countries, they still represent a minority of the population, therefore cannot be used to represent the whole nation, thats like saying san fransisco is made up entirely of homeless and gay people
@Niam Leeson, and new mexico is filled with well... Mexicans
@Niam Leeson, if I could upvote you 100 more times, I would.
@Niam Leeson, not everyone in Russia, hates Poland. Relax.
@Niam Leeson, but is it not?
@Niam Leeson, plus if you just look at it logically. The USA has the third highest population behind China and India and is more developed than both. Of course it going to have higher obesity numbers than other countries.
@Niam Leeson, jeez calm down, seriously it's just a joke
@Niam Leeson, it isn't?
@Niam Leeson, its a joke. Get over it. I don't see any russians getting annoyed about the "commie" jokes in this post.
@Niam Leeson, isn't it though?
@Niam Leeson, I dunno.... I've been to San Fransisco. 😝 No but seriously, of course you're right. Actually, as a Canadian who visits the U.S., I think the stereotype is wrong. At least in Los Angeles there are almost no overweight people at all. (At least, there's none in the valley) Having said that, there is one stereotype that's pretty true, and at the risk of pissing off all you funnypics users who are Americans, (I truly mean no offence with this) I will say it.
@I Are Lebo, A vast majority of Americans seem to be very unintelligent. I saw them everywhere during my Los Angeles trip making really poor decisions, showing a near complete lack of common sense or problem solving skills. I also overheard many stupid opinions loudly voices. An example: I saw a woman parking her car in a clearly labeled No Parking zone. When an officer was writing a ticket, she loudly complained that no one made her not park there, so it must have been okay to park there. She was not a one time case. I saw this everywhere. We have morons like that in Canada, too, but much, much less of them. To be clear, I'm not criticizing Americans in general. You aren't born stupid. It's your educational system. It clearly doesn't properly teach you critical thinking or problem solving. Sorry for the huge rant, but it's quite disheartening how stupid America seems to have become as a nation.
@Niam Leeson, I like this, I hate this sterotype personally because I feel like it is directed to me for some.reason, and I am not fat
@Niam Leeson, I applaude your logic.
@I Are Lebo, nah thats just California. I visited there a few times from washinton... its kind of sad.
@Niam Leeson, Wait, it's not? I thought San Francisco was just homeless gay hipsters and the Myth Busters.
@Niam Leeson, it's not?
@Niam Leeson, truth
@Niam Leeson, I work in San Francisco and I can confirm it is indeed made up entirely of homeless and gay people.
@Sniper of Puns, he seemed pretty calm about it bro, all he said was that it was an inaccurate description of the usa
@unregistired, it's an inaccurate despcription of Russia and Poland but I don't see anyone complaining about that
@Sniper of Puns, I don't think there is a large Polish or Russian population on this app to complain about this pic
@Sniper of Puns, and personally the pic doesn't bother me, I just thought it was kinda weird you told him to calm down
@unregistired, it bothers me that whenever something makes fun of American stereotypes there's a load of people that feel they have to prove that America is better than a stereotype no-one believes in. In my experience on this app, America is the only country this has happened for. Everyone else seems to able to appreciate jokes about their country. Sorry for the long reply.
@Sniper of Puns, in my opinion, I think there are people that are going to complain in every country about certain things, but it is just the sheer number of Americans on this app that causes it to seem that way
@unregistired, That would be my opinion too, except in my year and a half of being here, I can't remember any one instance where someone has said, for example, "actually Australia is like this". My memory isn't the best so there probably has been at least a couple and yes the vast majority of people on here are American but I just can't recall anyone acting the same way about any other country
@Sniper of Puns, *insert literally any country in the middle east*
@unregistired, once again, I just haven't seen any of that *disclaimer* in my experience. I understand fully that there may be things that either I missed or can't remember
@Sniper of Puns, you would have to pay attention to current events seeing that this app is in English, consequently limiting the replies we can understand to only English speaking commenters
@unregistired, the only major things I can recall were arguments about whether or not America should get involved
@Sniper of Puns, they tend to get a little touchy when you portray the prophet Muhammad (riots, executions, etc.)
@unregistired, I agree, Muslims do get quite defensive over things like that, but in my opinion they have justification for that. Muhammad is a very important part of their religion, and I'm fairly sure it's well known that it's considered offensive to portray Muhammad in any way. It's like how some of the more vocal Christians would react if someone made fun of Jesus. The only comparison I can think of for countries is if someone made fun of the armed forces.
@Sniper of Puns, I think its fair to say that its well known that portraying Americans as morbidly obese is also offensive, and I don't think rioting and killing should be the answer to getting offended no matter if it be religious or not
@unregistired, fair point I guess, but I would say about 90% of people know it isn't true. There's no need to prove it isn't when everyone already knows that.
@I Are Lebo, depends on where you go in the country.
@Niam Leeson, so black jokes can be made, arab jokes can be made, french jokes can be made, canada jokes can be made, but as soon as someone makes a joke about America, everyone goes crazy.
@SublimeLime, no its the same damn old a$$ joke, one that isnt true, mexico recently passed USA in percentage of obese people
@Niam Leeson, are you saying that black jokes are true then?
@Niam Leeson, it's not?
@Niam Leeson, well Canada's got some real dîcks in it and I've never been within 10 feet o do moose and I don't like maple syrup but it's a joke and that's the purpose for the American joke
I like the ones that have a point to them better
@AK47, this one has a point, a very accurate one
@The Antagonist, inaccurate*
@The Antagonist, that people from other countries love to stereotype Americans like the hypocrites they are? You're right, it does.
@AK47, the point is The States butts into every international affair, usually very poorly. The fat depiction is a secondary joke.
Normally I would deny these American stereotypes if not for the fact I am deep-throating a ham and cheese hot pocket as we speak.
@Kitchen Knight, I can do it for you. The U.S.A. has a much lower obesity rate than many other countries.
America is a character? Hmm let's group everyone together and make it the fat character.
@Praise Satin, todays forecast shows a 98% chance of buthurt
@Praise Satin, Well I mean, we Americans have the highest obesity rate (I believe) so it's accurate, and it's not like this picture is bashing just America, it also bashes Poland and Russia for having bad quality everything.
@We Are Groot, I heard that Mexico actually took the title of most obese country sometime in the last few years. But we're definitely up there.
@We Are Groot, that is true but if we are grouped by majorities then Poland is dumb, Russia is a land-hungry drunk
@We Are Groot, it's actually Mexico that has the highest obesity rate, but we are number 2 and I see your point.
@Dog Food Lid, oh ok thanks lol
@Dog Food Lid, Well, we might be number 2 in developed countries. There are multiple small island country's in Oceania that have higher obesity rates.
@AlexTheLion, 7up votes. 7downvotes. Very controversial
@Scottish Bloke, 7 Americans, and and 7 others it seems
@We Are Groot, WRONG Saudi Arabia has the highest obesity rate. US isn't even second.
@Dog Food Lid, islam/iran are also higher than us..
@We Are Groot, ya no....
I really like these pics but this one is just an open cheap shot at the 35% of Americans. God forbid they show Mexico (32%) or other countries who are close as this
@Ziggly Wigglyy, it's a joke showing stereotypes, very few people actually believe this
@Sniper of Puns, I guess but much like similar jokes of racism get everyone up in arms, 2 way street, and as an American who lost 45 pounds this year it makes me feel fat again.
@Ziggly Wigglyy, no offense, but I've noticed it's only really Americans on here that seem to get offended by stuff like this. For example, on one of the "can't hear you over the freedom" pictures, I commented "yeah, well free healthcare" as a joke but I got a sh!tstorm of people trying to disprove it. Just an observation, sorry for the long reply.
@Sniper of Puns, those pics piss me off, they bring the most ignorant Americans out! I love my country but I hate my government and my country doesn't make me free, the government does and I honestly believe America isn't even close to free.
@Ziggly Wigglyy, exactly! The anthem should be "I'm proud to be an American, where atleast I know I'm BROKE" ..lol.
@Sniper of Puns, in my experience, they're the most over sensitive country
Look whenever a picture shows up with an ugly stereotype of ANY country/group, people get upset. Promoting any stereotypes is wrong especially since there are plenty of people out there who legitimately believe that all Asians are bad drivers, that all Russians are drunk, that all Brits have awful teeth, or that all Mexicans are involved in the drug trade. Look, jokes about stereotypes just aren't that funny. How about we just find something else to joke about?
@janicejharvey, as a Canadian I don't know that feel I can take jokes about my country more often than not
@janicejharvey, i feel like without pictures like these, the community would be alot better
Alright I'm sorry to be so sensitive all of the sudden but I'm actually getting pretty sick of all the Murica jokes guys, that's really not what it's like here
@Dog Food Lid, pretty sure everyone who isnt shouting "FREEDOM" is getting pretty sick of them too
Jesus i christ im so fvcking sick of you people slamming stereotypes into these comics, and going "its funny its a joke" and then acting like someone shat in your face when it happens to you, get over it
@MasterEmerald, I would upvote this infinitely if I could
@Screw YOLO, it was an accident
"'All Americans are fat'. Not true. It's just when you ARE fat it's f*cking impressive."
Lol the butthurt is strong in this post
To be honest, I thought they were Pokéballs at first
I always read America's lines in George Bush's voice ._.
Voltorb's back lol
Why hasn't America been fat in these comics before?
A more realistic thing that would happen could be the America gets on the trampoline with Russia and both of them jump on it wile staring at the other angrily and Poland never gets his trampoline back
They made Poland's colors upside down because Voltorb
It still irritates me that the colors for Poland are upside-down...
Poland's colors are upside down
