Honestly I think it’s fake, as a former tow truck driver, police cars break down all the time, since they technicallyrun 24/7, we had a police contract and we would pick up broken down cars / suv , all the time for them
@DrSin, if a civilian vehicule brakes down they still get a ticket.
@Cuactemoc4919, not if you are fast and inform the right people, you would be surprise how lenient the rules are for real car problem don’t be an idiot and leave there for a week
Edit: one guy broke down in a drive way, he knocked on the owners door they didn’t answer, he called Right of way informant aka parking police for that area and they called us to basically move his car 5 feet and they gave him a day pass, he had 1 day to get it towed or fixed and move, for free didn’t cost him anything, it took me 5 seconds to wench his car 10 feet
@Cuactemoc4919, police are civilians
@DrSin, well it is a ford so i believe it
@PunnyBaker, ha classic car guy joke that many won’t get but, we all know the ford crown vic is the standard
Can they do that? The balls of that tow truck driver.
@seeUpee, they can, but I sure feel bad for that tow truck driver and the person who called it in when that cop figures out their names.
@Not him again, yeah i don't see that panning out in the aftermath either
@Dephenistrator, I've got 3 rules:
Don't cheat on your significant other
Respect your parents (unless it really warrants that they don't deserve it, like drunks or druggies)
And lastly, don't fvck with cops, because trust me, it's not gonna end well for you
@Not him again, in my opinion, people that get mad and yell at cops are asking for escalation.
@Dephenistrator, yep, and guess what? When you get back to the station, every single one of them is going to treat you like shjt
@Dephenistrator, I see people provoke it all the time. Respect the law, if you fvck up which we all do eventually be respectful they just doing their job. I never had a bad police experience except one time at 16 this cop tried to give me a speeding ticket after I parked the car and was walking in Blockbuster. I just said if what he was saying would hold in court as he had no way to even tell me how fast I was going and he just walked away. Only time
@seeUpee, Police can’t target citizens unless they’re running away and black. They should be fine.
@Not him again, I'm friends with a few cops because I used to work in law enforcement and yup cops are some of the pettiest guys you'll ever run into
@EddySteady, I'm not even calling it petty. If I was a cop and some guy started giving me a bunch of lip or made me chase him I'm gonna be way more pissed off when it's all said and done than if he would've just did what I said.
I dont believe that cops should beat up on people for doing so, but theres plenty of other ways to make their life hell in lockup
@Not him again, i didn't mean that I meant if you mess with one cop they'll all get revenge on you
@EddySteady, oh, yeah. They tend to remember the dicks
@Not him again, Doesn't it make you uncomfortable that there's this group of people that can enact revenge on you when you've done nothing against the law?
@Dephenistrator, I don't think towing an illegally parked car or yelling at a cop constitutes what police do in retaliation.
@PoliticalOtters, i don't think a cop car parked by a cop counts as illegally parked regardless of where they park.
I think there should be higher penalties for being aggressive with an officer. There's no reason for it and it's unruly. If you have a serious enough gripe go to court. Or don't don't illegal activities all the time.
@Dephenistrator, I think a car parked illegally is a car parked illegally. You could give creedence to a cop who parks during an emergency. Our law actually only allows for cops to stop or do commonly illegal things if their lights are on.
I think cops should be treated the same as all other people. To do otherwise would be to hold one class of people above another.
@PoliticalOtters, well one has to dole out the rule of law to the other, but you can't make it a class thing because anybody could become a cop
@Dephenistrator, Everyone ought to be able to dole out the rule of law and the rule of law ought to be applied equally and to all.
Class just means a group denoted by a certain parameter. In this case and currently in the US anyone in the police force currently or previous have joined a class of people to which the law applies differently.
@PoliticalOtters, i can't possibly see this the way you do so we probably shouldn't bicker anymore. I have respect for law enforcement, it's dangerous. There are some shíts out there but they don't define the police
@PoliticalOtters, your comment about cops needing to have their lights on to do something illegally is not accurate. I'm a cop and we park where we need to for the call. If a disabled space is the only place, I take it as a very last resort and move it as soon as possible. Or I'll double park and do the same. Or on a red curb. Or a loading zone. My lights don't have to be on. I just have to be on official business and use some common sense.
@RogueKnight, the deal here is simple. The mailbox is federal and the police car is local. Since parking in front of a mail box is a federal crime yes the cop can get in trouble/towed.
@pleroma77, and no federal employee would car. The call would get routed through local PD first.
@Dephenistrator, cops provoke as well and are not saints at all.
@Cuactemoc4919, blanket statements for all cops don't work
@PoliticalOtters, so you should give them something to arrest you for? That's exactly the stupid shjt that lands people in jail.
@RogueKnight, I think there's a difference between what is socially acceptable and what's legally acceptable.
It's not legally acceptable for a police officer in a car to perform illegal maneuvers without their lights on. It is socially accepted that they can and, like you said, you'd be calling the fraternal order that the person doing the illegal actions is a part of.
@PoliticalOtters, while driving yes, lights have to be on. Not while parked illegally.
And cops can be in the car pool lane without their lights on if they don't meet the required capacity. Speeding, going through red lights and stop signs, yes they do.
It's not just a social acceptance.
@Not him again, If you're talking about the illegally parked car then they shouldn't arrest you because it's not illegal. Will they? Maybe, but that's wrong.
@PoliticalOtters, my whole premise here was to not exacerbate the situation i.e. be a dick to them, because then you will get arrested
@RogueKnight, I'm not even a cop and even I know the feds have to either be asked to come in or give knowledge of operations to the local
@Not him again, im confused by your reply. Which comment were you replying to?
@RogueKnight, how you said a call to the feds would get routed through local first. Your reply to pleroma77.
@Not him again, ah okay. Yeah. I was mainly talking about if a postman wanted to report a cop car blocking a mailbox. Even if the postal worker called his boss directly instead of calling the local law enforcement agency a car wouldn't get towed like the picture. That's all I was saying. The local law enforcemed agency would get a phone call somewhere along the line telling them to knock it off. And the feds do have to let the locals know. You are correct there. It's also just good officer safety and respectful to let a local agency know someone is playing in their backyard.
Yea, that checks out.
But they are the law....
@megamanx181x, no, it’s their job to uphold it. In the US, no one is above the law.
@Its freaken Toasty , true
Remember, police officers have a job to either give tickets or WARNINGS at their discretion.
