@Tegu Trump, I work with someone whose brother owns a motorcycle repair shop, and this is absolutely the mentality when a dude has to ride on the back of another dude’s bike. The hypermasculine overcompensation is strong with the bikers.

@leanord Church, not a bike rider but I asked one once. He told me that it hangs exactly low enough to alert the motorcyclist when they are taking a turn to sharply, as it will strike against the ground (it's held down by a heavy piece of metal). He also told me that when people in cars cut bikers off, they oftentimes whip them into people's windshields in order to "alert" them. I never fact checked either, but it made sense to me.
