Okay something that bugged me about this. In this game Chris is drinking his problems away, acting emotional when a squad he commanded (and a rando he just met) died? But when he thought Jill, his best friend and someone who he worked with for years "died," he didnt give two shjts until obscure intel found her.
So much for "partners"
@Hatori, RE6 was a garbage story line
@megamanx181x, here’s a hot take: for all its flaws, RE6 was still heaping loads better than RE7.
@I Are Lebo, Personally, I liked both. I never played the originals though, so I don't have an attachment to anything before 5.
@ archiethesailor, that’s a pity. The best game in the franchise is 4. I hated 7 because it couldn’t make up its mind whether it wanted to be an immersive survival horror experience or an action video game, and as the result was the worst of both worlds. RE6 had the horror stuff with Leon’s campaign, the spy stuff with Ada, and then was just straight up action flick with Jake and Chris. It knew what it was.
@I Are Lebo, I finally got around to playing 4 a couple months ago. I finished it, but honestly couldn't get into it
@ archiethesailor, the control scheme didn’t age well. I don’t like it in games where I’m not fighting the enemy, but the game itself. There’s a lot of that in the earlier Resident Evil Games, where your controls are limited in ways that make the game unnecessarily harder.
I still think 4 had the best level designs in the whole franchise, though.
@I Are Lebo, I never played 7 cause it didn’t have any of the original characters involved but I had read it goes back to the survival horror roots. I been a RE fan since the first games on PS1 and seeing it change to 4 has been hard for me. 4 is a unique game and I do like it but it really gets away from what made the franchise unique. Yes I know tank controls, fixed camera angles and such but that’s what made the games popular and they worked. The RE2 remake for me was exactly what I expected RE 4-6 should have been, not sacrificing horror for action to get call of duty players.
@megamanx181x, yeah. They really left behind the puzzle solving survival horror, which is just a huge disappointment. Have you tried the Resident Evil 2 remake? I’ve heard good things about it, but haven’t played it.
Also, just as an FYI, Chris Redfield is in 7’s DLC.
@I Are Lebo, yes man I bought the game at release and I am so damn happy with it. This game is actually scary, ammo is limited and the monsters don’t go down easy. The map itself has been beautifully recreated and updated from the original and the graphics are amazing. The weapons, unlockables from the original are there as well that after a few play through and you can go on a killing. spree. We been demanding from capcom that they redo 3:Nemesis next and supposedly a third party is making it as we speak. I read about the DLC with Chris for RE7 apparently umbrella returns and wants to be a force of good and asks Chris and that organization he works for to be their proof of cleaning up their past mistakes.
@megamanx181x, yeah, I’d believe that /s
That company should’ve been dissolved several times over by now. They’re responsible for what, 200,000 deaths by now?
@I Are Lebo, well umbrella Corp was dissolved but the time RE4 happens. There was some wii games called the umbrella chronicles which you replayed the original games as a rail shooter. There was more story added to explain what happened in between and you get to see umbrella go on trial for its deeds and wesker himself had given too secret information to the US government for their downfall. He obviously did it for himself to create that company in RE5 but still I wonder how they can trust bringing back the umbrella name.
@megamanx181x, they can’t. That’s why in 5 they hid behind the Tricell brand. Umbrella is unrecoverable. They engaged in bio terrorism, they genocided an American city, and they engaged in the very worst kind of corporate espionage. The kind that involves a hit squad.
Also, I was curious and looked it up, and right now the Resident Evil 2 remake is on sale on Xbox Live for 67% off. I just bought the deluxe edition, normally $90, for just over $30.
5 and 6 are both on sale for $10.
@I Are Lebo, good deal! Let me know what you think about it when you play it!!
@megamanx181x, will do. It’s been hard to be a fan of Resident Evil. More of the games are bad than good. Revelations (1) was garbage, Operation Raccoon City was broken and nonfunctional, and 7 was terrible.
@megamanx181x, here’s an interesting thing. Resident Evil 4 is not on sale. 0, 1, and 4 are all $25 each.
I wonder how they determine the pricing.
@I Are Lebo, oh yea everything from 6 onwards has been garbage because capcom let go their best directors and producers that made these games. I can say 2 remake puts the franchise back on track cause it was made by the fans.
@I Are Lebo, hmm that make sense cause recently you can get these games on the Nintendo switch and they didn’t drop the price on some of them
I hated this game so much
Good ol Chris Roidfield
