he loves all the women! lol
The utter vilification of rape is partly what causes this kind of situation with Kelly. If their understanding of rape is as something only evil people do, it makes it easier for them to discount their actions, a common defense being I thought she/he wanted it.
@Captain Anderson, So you’re suggesting that, because we as a society have painted the act of rape as being unquestionably evil, it makes it more difficult for rapists to recognize the fact that they are rapists? I’m not trying to be glib or funny, but asking if this is your meaning.
@Berntley, preemptive "now i know tensions are high." (Thanks Husk)
@Berntley, that’s how I understood it, since most people see themselves as inherently good (especially sociopaths) it makes sense that they would deny or excuse it. But I don’t think I would say the vilification causes the situation as much as the “internal monologue of inerrancy” these people have.
@Captain Anderson, Statutory rape is a weird thing in itself. It’s basically saying that anyone under a certain age can’t consent to sex because they’re not mentally capable, yet there’s not ONE clear age in the US and many other countries in the world it’s much younger than 18, like in Japan for instance
@Berntley, what I think @Captain Anderson is trying to say is that as a society we see rape as such a vile act where (for example, don't go off of only this for my argument) a man captures a woman and forces himself onto her while normally inflicting physical harm or even worse taking a life afterwards that it's really the only way most people perceive it.
To give another side of the argument, one thing my middle school health teacher said comes to mind. Here's the summary "If a woman manipulate a man into having sex with her through insults on his manhood or his ability to perform well even though the man didn't want to, by definition that woman raped that man."
So what I'm getting at is there's more than one way to actually commit rape by definition, but we only perceive it rape when there's a true "evil" behind it if that makes any sense.
@xxTrashBoatxx, japan “legal” age is mainly ignored everywhere except for rural areas. You bang a 13yo in japan you’ll likely go straight to jail with a quick court session.
@Berntley, yes, basically.
@Captain Anderson, I can see that perspective. Doesn’t really instill a lot of pity on my part, but I understand that there’s often a different mentality involved in cases where someone has a relationship with a minor, and they’re labeled a rapist, because, while it doesn’t make it right, it’s not what they’re doing in their mind.
Which song is this?
He gave a woman, scratch that, a fellow human being, cigarette burns, while holding her in captivity after raping her.
@liberachi , that’s a cute puppy tho
