Y’all remember when everyone hated the prequels, and then the generation that grew up with them started praising them? I think thats gonna happen with the new trilogy again.
@theLOVEseat, no.... dear Neptune NO!
Hey! It served it's purpose. Rian Johnson wanted to subvert our expectations!!!
Yup that’s about right
Let's have a poll ladies and gentlemen. If you liked The Last Jedi, give me an upvote. If you disliked it, give me a downvote (I really hope my comment doesn't get hidden since I for one hated it so I'll give myself the first downvote). And it's now hidden lol
@The Landshark , I generally don't like downvoting but I'll have to make an exception for this
@The Landshark , why did you make me downvote, I feel dirty
@The Landshark , I miss the star rating system. For me, The Last Jedi is like a perfectly balanced scale, where the amount of things I loved balanced out the amount of things I hate. On the bright side, this means I get shjt from both sides of the fandom.
@RMB, because that dirty feeling is how I felt after TLJ (I watched it 5x in theaters to decide whether I hated it or not since for the longest time I was stuck in the middle)
@SimonPetrikov, i was in that state for the longest time until I watched Rian Johnson's best movie so far, Looper, and was fully disappointed in how lazy and basic tlj felt. Don't get me wrong, some parts are the best in the whole series. But still, it got me down
@The Landshark , really wish I could give you both an upvote and a downvote, bro. But it's a downvote from me.
@The Landshark , I'm going to abstain, because I am like Simon, I liked some parts and hated other parts. I mean ever so slightly towards disliking it, but I'd say I'm still at least 47/53, 50/50 on good days
@The Landshark , Ryan Johnson made a mediocre sci fi movie and a terrible star wars movie. The throne room fight was cool tho.
@SimonPetrikov, I was like that until I rewatched rouge one and realized how good a new star wars movie can be
@The Landshark , A lot of missed opportunities to be sure.
@The Landshark , yeah wasn't good sorry : /. Feel like people were pushing themselves to like it even though it had major flaws. But that's my opinion, so if you like it, good. Just didn't come through for me.
@Mr I Am Pooping, oh no I didn't like it. That's why I gave myself the downvote
@SimonPetrikov, it's a very entertaining movie, it was just written horribly. I'll still watch it, but it has some major flaws
@SimonPetrikov, yeah I enjoyed it well enough the extra stuff was really bad nobody cared about the horses however how luke went out that was awesome
@eleven, Yeah, it was weird how we went from awesome stuff like the Luke vs Kylo fight, the bizzare conversations between Kylo and Rey, and the great setup for Rose to the confused Holdo/Poe conflict, the boring conversations between Finn and DJ, and Rose regurgitating the writers' opinions.
I was conflicted on Rose until her ending speech, which was so stupid that I actually cringed and looked away from the screen.
@The Landshark , sorry bud but I do appreciate you keeping it simple most people would separate the poll as two comments to upvote
@Soy un Ranchero, it's all good, I did it so I wouldn't be accused of fishing for upvotes since I was genuinely curious. I was thinking it would have been 50/50 or close to it but I was clearly wrong
@SimonPetrikov, you know if you were to cut out most of their sidequest replace it with just getting arrested with the wrong hacker and escaping also rose in general you immediately make the film better they could have dedicated that time to Rey’s training as well as better explaining why Luke would be attacking Ben in the first place like perhaps snoke and or palpatine influenced his mind the same way his father had been manipulated that could have been interesting it would also explain his personality shift as well but no we have horses another thing I actually really liked was when Luke asked what Rey expected him to do run up and defeat the entire first order with his lightsaber kinda living up to the saying no man is an army that so much pop culture can’t seem to grasp \
@The Landshark , didn't hate it, didn't love it. Then again, I'm a fan of the franchise, not a fanatic.
@The Landshark , it’s hidden, mate. THE HATE IS OFF THE SCALE.
Revenge of the sith was sooooo much worse than the last Jedi. Like yeah, the last Jedi was bad, but the prequels were way worse
Why I hated the Last Jedi:
It was an inconsistent tragedy that literally broke the mechanics of the entire universe by including suicide lightspeed attacks. That and completely destroying Luke's legacy from the original 3 movies, making Leia somehow stronger with the force than Luke while still keeping her character alive while the actress was dead, which means she'll have to be crudely CGId in the next movie, making the character of Finn into a whiny and cowardly unendearing fool who was worse in everyway to some random girl mechanic he meets on a starship (essentially another character they decided to ruin), the entire offworld planet escapades that literally served no purpose, General Holdos strange need to have to stay on the ship when they have robots that could pilot the ship for them thus making her sacrifice meaningless, and various other nitpicks.
@PottedPlant, yeah I agree with pretty much all that (although they said they won’t be CGI-ing Leia in the next one).
I’m just saying, none of that is nearly as bad as Revenge of the Sith.
We'll agree to disagree, but I hear you, Revenge of the Sith wasn't that good either.
@PottedPlant, revenge of the sith was honestly worse than Phantom Menace. I don’t get why it’s regarded as the best of the prequels. Phantom Menace at least gave us Pod Racing.... all Revenge of the Sith gave us was Padme growing increasingly stupider and some unsatisfying character arcs
Oh I totally agree, I actually think Phantom Menance was the best of the prequels. The Clone Wars didnt do much for me.
@PottedPlant, also, rose is the worst character to hit the series since jar jar. Last jedi is 3/10.
She literally made Finn into a joke. He was kind of a comic relief character in the first one, but at least had some good qualities. Rose was better than him at everything, and essentially just babied him into doing anything positive. It was really just stupid and sad to watch. Only thing Finn did of value was beating Fasma and it was really just luck.
@PottedPlant, agreed that Phantom Menace was the best of the prequels.... but it still wasn’t good. None of the prequels were good. Aside from the pod racing scene, not even a single moment in the prequels were good. The best things the prequels gave us was that Weird Al song, and the movie Fanboys.
And I also agree that Rose sucks, but I think I hated Captain Pink Hair a little bit more than I hated Rose. Finn is my favorite character in the series and you’re right that her character ruined Finn.
I like a lot of stuff in the prequels but I understand where you're coming from.
Captain Pink Hair was indeed awful. Yeah Finn was one of my favorites from TFA and I was expecting him to really grow as a character and become a Jedi like Rey and they just straight made him a joke, so sad.
@MrTsquared, idk there were a lot of really awesome lightsaber duels in the prequels. All of y’all remember the music during the darth maul battle, I shjt myself when yoda whipped out his lightsaber in attack of the clones, and obi wan had the high ground going for him- which was nice.
Duel of the Fates song with Darth Maul fight was straight amazing. Incredibly well done fight scene.
@orion55, okay true I’ll give you the music aspect. The prequels had pretty good scores.
The light saber battles in the prequels are crap. The rest of the series has a lot of bad light saber battles too. Take a class in sword fighting. A rookie fencer could take down a Jedi with no problems. The light saber fights are poorly choreographed in terms of fighting. They look pretty, but they’re essentially equivalent to drunk people twirling glow sticks around at a rave.
I grew up on the original trilogy, so of course TLJ is going to be subpar. But if you go into not comparing it to the previous movies, then it's not TERRIBLE. It's still superbly lacking in the story department, and some of the wiring choices were...interesting...but the action was enough to keep at least entertained for most of the movie.
To be fair, I've seen far, far worse movies. Looking at you, Last Airbender.
I’m laughing, and I like III, but is it really yall’s favorite or do you just want the r/prequelmemes? In a world with V, I, and VI?
They both were trash
