If there are any other programmers on here, they know how well this actually works haha. My professor once demonstrated this technique. It was hilarious to watch.
@A Sergal, I am a programmer and I can tell you this is 100% accurate. My ducks name is Gregory.
@Sent From My iPhone , Mine's is just bob for now, but I think I'm stealing your name...
I guess you could say *good pun that is beyond my thought processes to make up
As a CS major that spent 4 hours debugging my professors code and only 2 hours completing the assigned objectives for my last programming assignment, I can confirm, however my rubber duck was my roommate (an international studies major).
They should just explain it to another person
@TheDayOfNoPictures, that's cheating!
@Cpzombie, the other person doesn't say anything though
@TheDayOfNoPictures, well it wouldn't end well if you through the person at the wall at least with the duck the wall won't get damaged
@TheDayOfNoPictures, Rubber ducky debugging is a spin off of another technique called paired programming where two coders do work on one workstation. The basic idea is one person codes and explains their code while the other critiques the code and gives suggestions. The problem with code that doesn't really challenge the programmer just having to explain the code out loud will find most of the mistakes so it's more productive to just have both programmers working on code and explain it to an object as they go along. Hence rubber ducky debugging.
Sounds like fun
Ha, I actually bought my boyfriend a rubber duck for this purpose a little while ago XD
I love how the ducks like DAMN, I SHOULD HAVE FINISHED COLLEGE.
@FunnyPicsSuperAdmin, what's your duck's name?
Oh. I use an Enderman plushy. That way I know where all my missing semicolons have gone.
I've heard that rocks do the job just as well. With or without googley eyes.
Am I being stupid or am I the only one realizing the funny part is the Harry potter reference?
@Kate43181, I saw that too and cried from laughing
Taryndactle, ignore my accidental downvote on your picture. It was not intentional and i changed it.
Well, what the duck!!!!'
