SAO is a super fun show. I was just extremely disappointed with the pacing. They built up a potentially long story with the 100 floors then just time jumped half of them away and skipped the rest. Would have loved to see that drawn out much longer
@dbakes, my friend and I talked about sao and decided that first off we would stay on floor one killing boars forever before risking our lives going higher as soon as possible. Secondly we agreed that orgies would have started almost immediately after the game went live and continued more intensely after the whole trapped thing. Doctors would be constantly cleaning up jizz from these unconscious kids in the hospitals
@dbakes, yeah, the first story arc was amazing and way way too short
@dbakes, yes I thought the same thing! I really wish they just made it based on the 100 floors
@Richard Cypher, I thought that there was only a finite amount of creatures per floor.
@dbakes, I mostly agree with you, but the risk is that they’d have dragged it out so long it would have ended up like Bleach - random filler arcs while they work out what happens next, then it all gets cancelled before it finishes.
The ending was a bit too sudden though.
@dbakes, well the light novels were like that too for aincrad. Kawahara has done the progressive series that details each floor, but theres only 6 of them right now, and it's been a hot minute since the last one came out. Alicization was supposed to be the final SAO thing, but along came Moon Cradle and Progressive.
Like it or hate it. Just know that without sao, there would be no sao abridged
@Pat Myckok, that right there is SAO’s biggest saving grace. And I am thoroughly grateful for it.
@Pat Myckok, So under my friend's request I've watched DBZA instead of regular DBZ as I'm told you could still get everything you need out of it and that it's just plain better. Is it the same with SAO abridged?
@Genieinabotle, yes. You don’t need to watch it, but it does add to the humor if you do because they poke fun at some of the cringy parts
Sword Art Online is awesome! It’s really good, but very accessible, which is the reason it gets hate. Gotta be cool by ragging on popular stuff.
@Hot Coffee, from a critical standpoint, however, it is still very poorly written, at least in the shows. That said the first show to ever make me fully shed tears was SAO so i really dont give a crap if ppl love or hate it, ppl are allowed to enjoy what they want to
@Hot Coffee, there's nothing wrong if people enjoy watching SAO, but being blind to its flaws is just being willfully ignorant. Also I can't tell if you're serious or sarcastic, so I'll treat it like both.
@Scarlet Pumpernickel, oh, I don’t have an objection to being critical of it, but just because it has flaws doesn’t mean it isn’t awesome.
It’s like Justin Bieber, you can be critically his music while still acknowledging it is good at what it does, which is mainly make 12-14 year old girl happy.
@Hot Coffee, eh, SAO abridged did it better.
Honestly it’s just an average show in my eyes. It’s flashy and nothing else. But I don’t go around lynching people who like it :P
@Hot Coffee, adding to The Pun Shielder’s point, I thoroughly enjoyed SAO, though it could’ve easily been written better and dodged the hate of many. Amazing concept that just fell flat on the writing at times and missed plenty of story arc opportunities that would’ve made it untouchable. That being said, watching the Abridged version definitely gave me a newfound appreciation of it but the fact I enjoyed the show way more this way definitely highlighted the numerous flaws it had.
@speedway guy, I highly recommend the abridged series. You won’t regret it.
@speedway guy, but what scene made you cry?
@Noctobo, forget exactly when it was but it was in the most recent season when alice went off on a super emotional speech
But I enjoy SAO...
story time: when my brother was explaining sao to me this is how i pictured it in my head a madman kidnapping people and forcing them to play his video game kinda like saw in a way but if u died in the video game u died for real i also pictured him as a notorious serial killer that the cops couldnt catch when i saw the first episode i was thinking the way i imagined it was better than this crap
Man that show is boring
I thought it meant Sons of Anarchy until I saw the comments
*points gun* “I didn’t say stop.”
I'm sure a budget to do all hundred floors would be intense
What is Sao?
@DavidRomeroBruh, Sword Art online

@Vernoctus, oh lol I've yet to watch it I know my brother finished season 1 and 2 . It's been hard for me to get into Anime lately I used to love watching good anime. I've only watched 3 episodes of My hero, I cannot stand Naruto. I've been wanting to catch up on DBZ but I have no time 😪
I mean, I’ve been very much unironically enjoying Alicization as someone who didn’t really like the entire Alfheim arc, so I think it really depends on which part you’re talking about.
@Ultimatum, I loved the start of alicization but then it trailed off hard with the stupid tower battle gauntlet and I ended up having no interest in watching the second part of it
