@boostedgoat, imagine the bumper stickers: my child is an honor student at Boatie McBoatface Elementary School
@D0N RAM0N, And now for the national anthem
@D0N RAM0N, (Weeps in shame)
@boostedgoat, aw come on I submitted the same comment in the exact same second (down below). I guess I wasn't as enthusiastic. Fair enough
@Monstercat, yeah I saw that man, I upvoted it! But yeah apparently the people like all caps haha
Option 4 please
@Ginga Bishounen, that names already taken, I know because that's the school I go to. Heil
@Ginga Bishounen, "it's not mein kampf, it's OUR kampf"
@Ginga Bishounen, I didn't see that coming
I couldn't find the John cena school for some reason.
@YEE, just follow the sounds of trumpets
Reminds me of when a scientific research group held a boat-naming competition. Top of the poll was "Boatie McBoatface" XD
Ok, in all seriousness, why are they changing the name? Just because he was a Confederate general?
@Pocket Doc, yes. They had a vote on it
@D0N RAM0N, personal opinion: this is stupid. Yes, he was a Confederate general. He was also against slavery. He encouraged his defeated men to help reunification. Convient that they all forget this.
@Pocket Doc, thank you!
@Pocket Doc, it's sad that people will ignore the actual character of people like Lee just to suit their imperfect perspective of history.
@Pocket Doc, yeah, but he still fought for the confederacy, which stood for the legal right to own a person as property. In history, it doesn't matter what one believes, what matters more is the ideologies they stood by and photo fought for. It doesn't matter if Robert e. Lee was a saint, he led a rebellion fueled by slavery, so that's what he will be remembered by.
@Pocket Doc, another (kind of unrelated) thing: one of the reasons honoring confederate generals and flying the rebel battle flag is so offensive to people is because they became trends in the south during the civil rights movement. States would defy the federal government by refusing to integrate schools, then fly the rebel flag on public property to remind black people what they thought of them. And of course the Klan and neo Nazis really like confederate symbols and names
@Big Hat Brogan, in one of Lee's letters, he felt that slavery was an evil act. He also felt, however, that the people needed to see this for themselves before slavery can truely end. His rational was if slave owners were forced at gunpoint to give up slavery there would be bitterness between the races. Historically he was very right.
@Big Hat Brogan, slightly unrelated (a did you know): 1) there were black Confederate soldiers. In fact, in some states they were paid more than their white counterparts. 2) A Confederate bill was introduced to phase out slavery. There was a group of politicians in the south who felt that it was time to phase out slavery. This would do 2 things: allow the southern economyband people adjust slowly to minimize hostilities, and take the wind out of the norths surpport. Unfortunately the bill never got a vote because the war ended. 3) Ok, the most used reasoning for banning the Confederate flag is the Klan and slavery. However, the Klan also flew American flags. Also, if you compare, slavery existed under the American flag for much longer (fyi: the last state to truely abolish slavery was New Hampshire, a northern state, well after the 13th amendment).
Mao Zedong's School for Cultural Correction
And now please rise for the national anthem: 🎺🎺🎺🎺 🎺🎺🎺🎺 🎺🎺🎺🎺 🎺🎺🎺🎺
Uh oh did they get mountain dew to run the ad campaign for them? Cause this looks like a repeat of dub the dew...
Ah I found a fellow Louisianian @Glorious Grapefruit ;)
@Im Innocent, Haha nah, my friend actually sent me this. I'm from Texas *tosses cowboy hat into air and shoots double pistols*
In all seriousness, Bruce Lee would be an awesome school name.
Sweep low chop low rob lowe Chad lowe
I like the third one. The Adolf hitler tolerance reference is classy
@Anonymous3301, I like it too
Why is option 3 just elementary school?
Honestly they should choose the Hitler one. Imagine how pissed he'd be if he found out that a school name like that included his name as well. He'd scheisse himself from anger.
@NinjaKhan, I'm imagining a cartoony mascot of Hitler welcoming all the children, including Jewish kids. They can call the three-legged race the "master race". And every treat they bake there comes with a free arm band
Nobody ever thought an epic name for that school Dragon Ball Z or the Turtle Hermit School, or even King Kai Institute
@Alpha Warrior, Piccolo's Training Academy.
Learn to dodge or die trying.
Yoshi is the mascot.
Well, it isn't going to be Drew Brees
Adolf Hitler School for "Friendship"
I just (finally) watched the Rooster Teeth podcast where they talked about this!
The fourth one definitely the fourth one but take out for friendship and tolerance
My favorite suggestion was Bee Movie Elementary, which the news show didn't show.
Good job Louisiana smh
Of course it's on FOX News
If you could name anything after one guy, who would it be? Personally, I'd choose Ben Salomon. He was a real badass, just look him up if you don't know about him.
So sick of interwebs using blah mcblah. I know nothing original happens anymore but a little try? Please?
Yeah, this is a pretty interesting story. If you don't know, they are taking away Robert e Lee's name from the school because of his ties to the confederacy, and other suggestions are kim il sung elementary and Adam lanza's (? Sandy hook shooter) house of fun. Wondering what you all think about the idea of removing Lee's name
I love seeing pics related to where I live. New Orleans FTW!!!
@Grizzly Wintergreen, sorry dude, this is from Austin, TX
@D0N RAM0N, damn fail. I figured with Drew Brees it had to be new orleans lol
My school name would be: Fish Anal High
Considering the school is named Robert E Lee, they should rename it William T Sherman because I've heard southerners hated him
Hail hydra, bitch!
Amaterus. They left out Lil Wayne Elementary
