If you read the expanded universe then you know the pain of it being non-canon
Damn shame, too. So much of the EU doesn't even conflict with the current story. Especially a lot of the Revan lore.
@I Hid Your Remote, but they wanted Chewy in the movie, so all of it goes
@I Hid Your Remote, i wish they used a lot of EU to influence the new cannon, the stories were much smarter! It wasnt all usual generic story lines that the movies will most likely go to :(
@I Hid Your Remote, actually Revan and swtor are untouched as it happened waaaay before the new movies
@Mortimer Smith Sr, see my comment below. They've been confirmed to not be canon
@I Hid Your Remote, can we just say that after return of the Jedi is non cannon and that way we still have a lot of the interesting lore still
@I Hid Your Remote, the only EU I know is the European Union. Good thing I guess. Thinking about it now does that stand for extended universe? So like the clone wars cartoons aren't canon anymore?? Because they were 10 times better than episode 7. And episode 7 was really good so that's saying something...
@BunnyGruff, All the films, the Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, the current comic book series and any novels released after Disney aquired Star Wars is cannon. Anything else is not.
@I Hid Your Remote, they did announce that the MMO game is canon, and there might be a Shadows of Revan DLC coming out, thereby making Revan canon. It's their way to pick and choose what is and isn't canon
Don't mind any of it is non-canon. Didn't really care much for it...except for KOTOR! How dare you tell me Darth Revan didn't actually exist in a fictional universe!
@HammerOfHerertics, Revan and swtor are still canon, since it doesn't effect the new movies
@Mortimer Smith Sr, no they're not. Lucasfilm said so lol
@HammerOfHerertics, but there is mention of mando wars and the defeat at malachor V which could imply revan as canon
@HammerOfHerertics, KOTOR is the best
@HammerOfHerertics, bro I'm saying.
As someone who read the books when they were cannon, definitely salty
The only expanded universe I read was about Admiral Thrawn. It would have been soo badass to have him in Eps 7-9
They killed the books being cannon when they killed... (Just in case anyone hasn't figured it out) Kylo Ren's dad. He was a pretty prevalent character for the books. And where are the rest of the Solo kids? I'm with the uproar this was a dîck move by disney
For everyone confused or misinformed: the extend universe still exists but everything after episode 6 now no longer exists. Revan is still a real person in the universe people
Well technically they're "legends" which means they could be true - but if it contradicts the canon events, then priority goes to the canon.
@GiantDwarf01, a Lucasfilm employee has said "the thing about legends of that some of it is true". So even if the EU is now "legends", if the movies doesn't contradict the story then it's still "true".
@Darthanton99, yep, I mean that's kinda what I said, but yeah! So the Thrawn trilogy is non-canon(which sucks cause that was an awesome series), as is anything that involves Han and Leia's kids. But things like the book I have that's about one of Mace Windu's Jedi mission is probably true. The legends are true until proven otherwise!
I don't even know what canon means
@qzw444, A cannon goes boom, and canon is the character and plot continuity, however they can both destroy ships.
I thought EU meant european union for a second and i was really confused
It's not non canon. I've posted this before but I'll do so again.
There's two universes. Movie canon, aka Universe A, and extended universe, aka Universe B.
Guys, split timeline. The canon one follows the movies, but the rest didn't not happen.
I just think of the post Disney releases in the same way as the new Star Trek movies. Different time lines. Disney just did theirs in a d!€k move way.
I need a sexplanation
I'm gonna step away from my judging table for a second and ask how the eu being non cannon actually effects any of the stories? Just enjoy them for what they are and stop complaining
@Joke Judge, None of it was real in the first place
@Joke Judge, because it means Boba Fett is actually deaf
@angrynarwhals, really? I didn't know that. Thanks sooooooooo much for informing me
@Peridot, does anyone really care? He was barely even a character. Plus he might get his own movie anyway
@Joke Judge, I care
@Peridot, why? What are you missing out on?
@Joke Judge, I am missing out on a character who could've been used better
And now my hopes for Boba Fett still being alive were crushed, until i saw the mythoskull banner in force awakens, and not i have a small glimmer of hope
What?!? The movie isn't like the books?!? This never happens!!
@iOS9, no, theyre talking about how the Extended Universe books were declared non-canon by Disney. The EU has been canon since it was written, thus causing uproar among fans
@Nosam55, yeah. I know. I was being sarcastic. :)
@iOS9, ohhh, okay. Sorry about that!
@Nosam55, no worries. :) I forgot to use the sarcasm font. :)
