Same as pee. People won't want to swim in a pool knowingly with pee in it but the ocean in just fine.

I refuse to swim in Lake Superior because of all the bodies. As least woth the ocean I know that almost all of them have "decomposed" and are extremely far away. In Superior, there is no decomposition and you have no idea where they are. In fact, I try to avoid Superior all together. There's something about that "lake" that isn't right.
