STEM major here. can confirm. damn lazy kindergarteners with their art
@Hoban Washburne, as an engineer I can confirm that kindergarteners are useless. Unless you are building a meat dragon.
STEM fields are great when you land the job. Otherwise it's better to get in the trades right now. Most trades are starved for applicants to the point they're paying apprentices upwards of 30 an hour. Certified plumber or electrician? Say hello to 50/h plus.
@ Tobias Widower, jokes
@ Tobias Widower, certified confectioner here. Switched from majoring as a social case worker to a trade. Earn more than a social case worker now
@ Tobias Widower, I've been tempted to learn welding.
@Gamasennin, seriously go for it. In Ontario the need for trades has lead to subsidized tuition for trade schools. Plus welders can get a job literally anywhere in the world. Get a SCUBA licence and an underwater welder can mane upwards of 200k a year.
@ Tobias Widower, Yeah, but then I'd be a Canadian.
Stem-major here I call bs, all we do are shapes and colors
Computers: Lines (of code)
Biology: Circles (ex. Krebs)
@PBnJ, As a geology major I describe colors every day. Sometimes I wonder how my life got to this point
@TubaPride, you must have the 128 Crayola pack. I'm jealous. We had "blue or black pen"
@PBnJ, Crayons, no. But a a huge pack of twistable colored pencils? Yes
@TubaPride, o you fancy
@HSA, as a chemist, I’ve perfected the nearly impossible task of drawing the perfect heptagon.
Non-stem major here. Can confirm. No jobs
Yea, but this is honestly how I see full grown adult art majors, English majors, history majors. Your "major" is my easy A general education requirement. If you're gonna go for an easy major and not have anything worth while at the end, why even bother with college?
I’m a STEM engineer at large corporation as a new product designer. All I do is draw shapes and make them colors, just need to add some math so yes you can get a job with that.
What about someone with a degree in African American Recreational Gender Studies?
As a double major in STEM and a humanities field, I feel both sides of this 🙁
I hate the abuse my fellow humanities majors take for their choice from STEMers, but at the same time I myself cannot let go of my stem major for fear of not getting a good job :/
I’m majoring in modern languages, specifically Chinese and Japanese, so I’m pretty happy to have one of the liberal art degrees people can’t easily say is going nowhere.
@SchwiftyChick, oh yeah? Gonna go be a military linguist? That's about the only place I've ever known that to be useful. Languages are good add-ons to STEM resumes.
@Justduckyjenn, lol no I’m gonna be a free lance interpreter for business after I spend a few years teaching English abroad.
She seems a bit old for kindergarten
OI FOKIN CUAN'T I AM GREAT RED SQUARE
