Only b is pronounced
Well b when pronounced is actually just a buh sound so it needs the e at the end for the b to be pronounce like the actual letter is pronounced. It also needs to have the second one is so it doesn't look like the word be. I'm so much fun at parties. At least I think I would be if I were invited to any.
@stormageddon98, ay buh see dee e eff jee.....no I dont think that's how you pronounce that letter
@Not him again, but the letters in the English alphabet, while named similarly to the phonemes they represent, are phonetic symbols, so each letter in a word generally (depending on things like etymology) produces a sound. It's a fairly recent development in modern English to use letters' names to form words, like OK instead of okay.
@Doctor Yak, yes, so wouldn't that B a point in my defense? And is "modern English" what it's being referred to as now? I thought it was just a trend that started with texting/twitter character limits, mainly the latter
@Not him again, well, the word "bee", I'm fairly certain, outdates the common convention of using individual letters to represent a word in English, and thus is subject to the conventions at the time of its emergence in the English lexicon. And I suppose by "modern English" I do mean English as it is used today in general, including things like social media.
@Doctor Yak, no I understand, I wasn't trying to say you were wrong, I was more so pointing out that it's just kinda sad lol.
@stormageddon98, That isn't necessarily true though, the word 'I' is pronounced as you would name the letter, similarly to how bee is pronounced like 'B', but it doesn't need the e to make its sound the full letter
@Robenstein, it's the English language man. I'm just trying my best.
@stormageddon98, fair game, mate. I don't get how any of it works, that's why I'm a science major, right? Just trying to keep the dream alive that this man may be onto something
Time to kill myself, Goodbye this has been a good run.
@JukeboxLab, for real dont
*has mental breakdown*
Not really, but "ueue" in "queue" is
Cuz the two e's in bee need to be there cuz b can be a word
Nope, only the first e is silent.
The other one is just audibly invisible.
@do it for the meme, the double e makes a long e sound. There is actually a silent third e, but it is visually invisible.
